Thanks purplecat lover. I am not concerned about being persuaded to sign up with Npower but more concerned that Love Offers have passed on my details when I specifically stated otherwise. I have entered quite a few of their comps so am not looking forward to having same convo with all of their sponsors.
  • to be honest npower and scottish power are the only ones ive had and ive entered most of the johnson press comps over the past year. scottish power, with no promting or asking, offered to remove me from their call list after the quote and ive never heard form them again.

last time npower called he kept saying he woudl call back at a more convenient time and i was instant that he should not do so...eventually he hung up on me when i asked his name and to be put through to his supervisor...theyve not called since then.

ive not had any other sales calls from comps....survey/market research tends to get more of them but on the whole explaining im on tps and that i am very careful about ticking no to info etc and asking to be removed works and there have been maybe 5 of them total on the past 12months.

Can anyone advise on how to handle this, please? I'm new to comping.
I entered a comp through Love Offers, the one where you can win £1000 via N Power.
I ticked the box 'no phone call'.

Received a phone call this evening from N Power to do a review of my energy needs or some such nonsense. Explained I did not want a review, thanks.
The guy told me that it was a condition of entry to have this review!
I have checked the T&C, can't find anything, and checked the copy of my entry where I ticked the no phone call box.

He will be ringing me back on Friday evening.

What can I do about this, if anything?

Sometimes it's the price of comping.

With energy companies the following can put them off:-
    a) you are on an online tariff (phone quotes typically can't compete).
    b) you signed up only a couple of months back and will be penalised if you move now.
    c) a friend had problems with that company and you are wary of changing.
    d) Your account is in arrears and you would get a massive final bill from your current supplier if you left now.
    e) If you ticked that you are with British Gas or Scottish & Southern then you could say you would prefer a British company (npower & E-On are German, EDF is French, Scottish Power is Spanish,).

Thanks PCL and One-Eye for your advice.
N Power rang my comping PAYG mobile but I'm in Spain at the mo so got rid of him quickly. I'm reluctant not to answer any calls on the comping mobile ... just in case!
I'll give him the hard word on Friday.
Not too concerned about dealing with the call but am concerned that I ticked the no phone call box and yet got the call.

I only had 1 call from Npower. I asked why he was calling when I had ticked the box saying I didn't want a quote. He said that he wouldn't know if the box was ticked, the number had been passed on by Dennis.
Then when I said I wasn't interested in a quote he said he would remove me from the list. No argument, no pressure.
  • i must have been the 50th person to tell him i wasnt interested the last day they called me and he was sick of not making any sales so not making any commision lol....or was having a bad day for some other reason so tried to imtimidate me. glad not everyone got the same hassle i did routinely though.

Taking comps out of Game Over
I've just seen a comp taken out of game over (it had several weekly draws and an extra draw was tagged on the end)
My concern is that people may have pressed "entered" when they entered the final draw and so will ignore the thread.
Also, in the "Competitions Time - what's happening" thread there have been suggestions around taking competitions out of Game Over, changing end dates etc.

Does anyone know whether taking a competition out of Game Over resets the entered flag?

I'm pretty sure the thanks & enter buttons will remain marked if you've seen the comp before.

Also for those of us who enter by date posted, I think this would go by the original thread start date and therefore may not be spotted?

  • Hi All,

What are the rules for brands posting their own competitions?

    Thank you!
