I entered a comp through Love Offers, the one where you can win £1000 via N Power.
I ticked the box 'no phone call'.

Received a phone call this evening from N Power to do a review of my energy needs or some such nonsense. Explained I did not want a review, thanks.
The guy told me that it was a condition of entry to have this review!
I have checked the T&C, can't find anything, and checked the copy of my entry where I ticked the no phone call box.

He will be ringing me back on Friday evening.

What can I do about this, if anything?

These energy companies pick your details up from ANY comp that you enter for money sponsored by them & the T'C's never state that it is a condition of entry to get a quote.

Just to put your mind at rest I enter all but these types of comps from the Dennis sites and the energy ones are the only ones I have ever had calls from, I have NEVER had a call from any other company that sponsors the Dennis comps.

I don't enter any energy or insurance sponsored comps no matter how tempting the prize as they seem to be the only companies that disregard your wishes.

I can't get on to any of the Dennis sites today, I'm getting an error 500 on them all, anyone else?

Hi, I just wanted to say that I'm at a loss to explain where these calls are coming from as I haven't actually posted this comp from Love Offers on the board, although it is on the website. (I knew with the hamper comp in December that people were getting calls despite ticking no to a quote ) It's been posted from a couple of the other linked Dennis publishing sites though, with a warning, but fnc83 who got in touch with me by pm about the call hadn't entered through either of these, and it remains a mystery. As fnc says, removing your phone number should hopefully stop it happening in future (so long as you don't then enter on another Dennis site where you have to put your phone number in, unfortunately, Love Offers is the only one with a log in)

I'm really sorry my posts are causing problems. I've always been a bit wary about posting these kind of ones, and do always stick a warning in, but for future I'm just going to stop posting these altogether and stick to the normal Dennis ones, as they're covered by their own privacy policy, and no one to my knowledge has had any problems.
Got to agree reniannen.I've not posted the lastest energy comps on the Dennis sites that often post from for the reasons that you state.

Can someone please tell me how the likeability column works? I can see it is not by the number of views or replies, so who decides how likeable it is?

Had a strange call just now.
Was from a company called prizexxx (won't give it's actual name), saying "I am though to the next round" to win a mini!
Then started going on about how I can "sign up" to their site, so they can enter comps on my behalf.. They said that most comp prizes are never actually won.
I told them that in doing so, they would invalidate your entry on most sites.. plus they only do 500 comps per month anyway (and charge you £30 for the privilege)

I doubt very very much that there is even a mini to be won in at all!

Personally I would avoid any site which calls its self 'Prize' anything at all!

They are usually dodgy huns... ;)

Don't worry. I am completly aware that it's very dodgy...
The guy ended the call as soon as I said "did everyone get though to next round, so you could phone them"

    Hi all

I would just like to ask a general question if I may. Has anyone else noticed that the amount of comps ending for each day has decreased? I normally do my comps by end date (usually entering the ones that end the next day the evening before IYSWIM). I always found that there were more comps ending on a Friday and Monday than the middle of the week (usually averaging 12-15 pages on a Friday). I've noticed there has been quite a few less pages for each day over the last week or so? (I've even managed to get a couple of days ahead of myself ). I am aware that there has been discussions about how the comps are listed lately (although I don't really know the details, only that it involves the Regulars in some way).

So, are there competitions that are being listed elsewhere or is it just a decrease in the amount of comps around at the moment?

    TIA :)

  • I'm kind of relieved to see that other people have been getting calls from Npower despite ticking the 'no quote' box, I was starting to think I was mad and hadn't ticked it!

He said to me that to be put through to the next stage of the competition I had to get a quote... but I know how to deal with this - I got rid of the guy pretty quickly by saying I rent my house and the landlord deals with the power suppliers. It really made me laugh actually as he sounded sooooooo disappointed when I said that, and he mumbled something along the lines of 'Oh ok, well I'll put you into the competition anyway, bye' and hung up. Poor guy. I've worked in sales before, tho nothing so parasitic as that, thank god.
