(the answer to which is no at the moment, as those being most vocal over their disgust at threads been moved to regs and demands for scrapping of the regs board alltoghter wont even take two minutes and consider trying it that way).
i know ppd was working on the monthlies, and i know gilla has started to catch up on the dead links in weeklies, which i and others post at the end of the thread for her as we come across them.....now that i can see how well bhg has the daily thread laid out i agree it would be nice if the other two threads were done that way too....however until people stop seeing it all black and white there is little point in either gilla or ppd spending the time involved in trying to tidy them up. it takes enough time to swap the links every week/month when the exact same comp is reposted with a different prize (like the hello comp, its ongoing, its the same url as old link takes you to new prize and could easily have prize updated in one thread each week by whomever spots the changbe first = less work for gilla with swapping links and less work for the op)
hiya, i don't think anyone, least of all me,
wasn't prepared to try using the regs threads,
we just wanted/hoped for it all to be sorted out about moving comps straight into regs without giving peeps a chance to see them on the main board first,
i've used them, even sent links to gilla/ppd on occasions when i've noticed a reg comp on the boards so they can be added,
so i wasn't saying i wasn't prepared to try them,
just that some of them are difficult to follow through,
gilla/ppd do a great job best they can but this wasn't the debate,
the debate was the moving of the comps as said,
with the question being do we want a poll about keeping the regs etc,
way i've been reading through all the threads it seems majority just want to have it back as it was, without the comps being moved off main board..

Sorry Korky, I've seen quite a few posts both here and on the other thread where people have openly said they don't like regs, haven't got enough time to go there, etc.
I don't for one minute think PCL was intending to aim that at memebers who have at least gone over and had a try at Regs. In fact it was seeing your posts that you had made your way through the board, that made me make my mouse click its way over there as well.
I never bothered with Regs before as I had enough comps on main to keep me happy. But now I have understood that thanks to the stickies I can often do both quite easily.korkythekat wrote: »hiya, i don't think anyone, least of all me,

hiya mamzie, could be, i've read majority of replies but suppose it's easy to miss a sentence out here & there on them, especially when the threads getting very long, apologies to you & anyone else if i did miss them,
or have read them & it's not sunk inplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
mamzie is correct korky, i wasnt aiming that at you, or anyone else, who has openly stated they are prepared to try using the regs board/threads. its the people who wont try, who have never tried and thus cannot make an informed decision over using the board or not. there have been numerous comments about its too messy over there, that trawling through a second board is too much, that they dont have time etc etc from people who openly say they rarely set foot in there.
i dont understand how people could use the advent thread, but cant use the daily or weekly thread. i really dont!0 -

EVERY advent that needed daily links/answers was posted on the main board (because it had to be - it couldn't be anywhere else). Some of the advents that didn't need a daily post were also posted on the main board. ALL of them were linked in the top few posts of toni's thread. None of the ones on the main board were moved except for dupes. This is what many people apparently want for the daily regulars.
It was even possible for people who were not end date compers to enter the majority of advents without ever going into the advent thread as you could see them on the main board as you looked through it using your normal method, bookmarking whichever advents took your fancy!
On a different topic how would you classify the Daily Mail bag competition? Is it a weekly (it is run once per week)? Or should it be treated as a daily that only runs for one day and thus it ought to have a link put on the end of the daily sticky? Of all the comps I can think of, only this one and the ASDA mag comp defy easy classification (the Asda because of the single entry form and their tendency to add comps half way through a month).0 -

so had they all been posted on regs or in game over or in i won i won or anywhere for that matter, anyone using the thread would still have found them all. the reg stickies work the same way...or would if people would notify the thread maintainers when they post a new reg or spot one is a daily eg. so yes it SHOULD work how the advents thread worked, with every single daily comp linked in the first post of the daily thread, likewise weeklies and monthlies. the point being everyone had to go into the advent thread to find those comps, with only a few duplicated on main.
the daily mail bag comp i would class as a weekly regular, and have a main thread with the email addy etc in the first post as the entry criteria never change, link it in weeklies, then for those that want to see the specific prize each week the thread can have the new prize details added. you can only enter it once in the week, the entry criteria is the same every week, the day all entries must be in by is the same every week so really its an ongoing with no end date weekly.
if you can send an entry everyday then it needs to go under the dailies (extra entries into one weekly prize draw). at the minute the email for sending entries is linked in the weekly post, but i dare not enter it from there (though then i can be sure i have entered if ive done the weeklies) as it is also posted every week as a brand new comp on main and my memory is not good enough to remember without the thread being linked in weeklies.
to add the new post as a link in the weeklies each week, would i feel be asking gilla to do more work than is necessary, and i dont see why it needs a new thread for the board guides to move every single week when the same thread could be used and moved once every few months or when the comp actually ends.
others prefer it as a new thread every week because then they have less work to do to go to the weekly thread and follow a link from there, or to go to the weekly thread to check for new comps to add to their own bookmark. but adding them all to main every day/week adds more comps to search through on main when looking for dupes, when entering comps and more work for the bgs in moving them all to game over.
and persoanlly i come down on the side of making less work for the people who are good enough to volunteer to do the moving etc...they have more than enough to do moving comps that are one time entry only given there are usually (january dip off notwithstanding) 200-300 new single entry comps a day. which is party why i really want mse to decide a trial is needed before a decision is made. but thats me0 -
PCL - I was trying to stay away from this now but you've just forced me to join back in.
Firstly, please don't dictate to people that they HAVE to try it your way before they're allowed an opinion, have YOU tried it their way? (incidently I used to use the daily thread all the time then found it far more efficient to just go through the main board and add them to my own spreadsheet, my choice!) If this is not how you meant it to come across then fine but I read it to say "You WILL try it my way" and made me feel very cross, I'm not a cross person generally.
The Daily, Weekly and Monthly list threads are NOT the issue here, most of us would like to keep those. It's the moving of comps from the Main board to the Regular board that is causing the upset.
For your information, I did not use the advent thread
"the point being everyone had to go into the advent thread to find those comps, with only a few duplicated on main."
No everyone did not have to go there. I did my advents from a spreadsheet made up of hyperlinks from the competitions I picked up from the Main board as they were posted, which is the way I comp. I popped in there once to thank the OP for posting as I was aware that it was helpful to others and a lot of stress and effort, while I was there I checked to see if I had missed any, I had not.
Lastly, and why I replied, please leave the Daily Mail bag comp right where it is! If that is tucked away in Regs it doesnt matter how many links there are to it, if you don't do your weeklies on a Monday you WILL miss it! I don't do weeklies full stop, but that's my choice, but I don't consider this is a weekly, it's a separate competition, with a separate prize each week and should be on the main board as a one off comp. That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0 -
Hi, sorry to ask this in the middle of the regulars discussion. I have recently started doing Facebook comps but not sure how people track them. I am relying on my memory when I am entering the main board comps hoping that I haven't already done the Facebook comp. Does anybody track this, if so how? Thanks and sorry for interupting the discussion.:):beer:0
