ok i have a question or two because i really cannot see the difference here so please explain to me.
the advents thread right...everyone who wanted to managed to check it every day for new comps, and use it to enter the ones they wanted to or bookmarked them however they normally do form the thread. it worked well because everyone notified toni if they posted a new thread (or found a new comp). people went to that sticky and followed a link from it to the relevant post on mse (which could have been in game over or anywhere else and link would still have worked).
so why is it that many people are saying they cannot possibly check the daily thread for new posts to add to their own bookmarks if they dont use it to enter? the new format is incredibly clear and easy to spot new comps, the links in there are current.
no matter if a comp is posted on main or in regulars IF it is linked to in the daily thread and people look in that thread for new comps then there is no need for trawling through the regular board as well as main, check main, check the thread whats the difference over where they are posted, ok so you have to open the regs to get to the daily sticky but i cant see how that can add more than a couple of minutes to the time taken?
if every daily was posted anew on main that would be what 50 or more comps every day? thats a couple of extra pages on top of those already posted on main, as well as extra time for the person posting them everyday.
ALL comps posted in the regular board should be linked to in one of the three stickies, NO ONE needs to do naything other than check those threads for new comps and send a pm or add a link when spot a new one. the thread maintainers do all the hard work of adding and removing the links.
i do think its sad that people wont even try something before they condemn it, and persoanlly i hope the mse team define regulars and make us trial using the board for a number of months before doing away completely with it IF that is still what most want. id love to know how many people screamed no about using E: in titles for end dates before that was enforced....and how mnay of them would now go back to the way it was before when they probably didnt see it as broken then either.0 -
I'm all for trial and error purplecatlover. It's a bit like when mse changed the outlook of the forum....you don't know if it will work until you try.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0

which is why im sad at all the people who wont even try using the reg board before they condemn it
and since people were impatient there hasnt been time for a well thought out summary of ALL the options to be chosen from, to be presented to the mse team and the forum as a whole including those people who at the moment are saying no to regs without even looking at what other alternatives there are and without even being preapred to try it for a few weeks.
glad has come up with a decent compromise so hopefully people will be open minded about that and not just write it off because its not exactly what they wanted!
sleep well everyone0 -

the daily thread isn't a problem any more pcl since BHG tidied it up, added the urls/sites names & prizes etc,
it's some of the weeklys & the monthlys, as i/some of us have said before on here, half the links are closed, some have new/dif prizes & we have to click on each link if we go through the thread
even if a link is sent the title isn't changed for the new prize etc,
if you search in the monthly/weekly threads for a certain site it doesn't show half the time as the url's/site names aren't posted on the thread (most of them anyway) so it takes time to sort them,
this seems to be the best suggestion i've seen..
Regarding "monthlies" and "weeklies" I would just have them all posted each month on the main board, i.e. E: 31/01 Win a prize, E: 28/02 Win a prize, etc. Then lists wouldn't need to be maintained for "weeklies" or "monthlies" and no linking would be necessary as each separate draw would just have it's own thread and could be found in the same way every other comp is on the main board.

Can anyone tell mw the links or what i should look up for the magazine quizes like Takeabreak ?Won 2010: Butlins 5 day Break and £250, 1 yr Virgin Active membership, Meal for 10 at Best Parties Ever, skyline 2011 dvd.

I put Take a break issue in the search box and then change the drop down to forum, this brings up any posts for the take a break comps.
I do the same for Chat aswell.
The other option is when you find one of the comps, after you have entered, click on the name ofthe poster and select view other posts and it will bring up all the other comps (aswell as anything they have commented on, but its just a case of scrolling through)
I think the posters of these two are tttjay and KorkycatSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000 -

(.......................... edited as was long quote otherwise)

I completely agree.
There was soooo much agro on the board for a time before the expiry date was started. When I first came here, there was no overall format of end date, so you just could search at will. Then in 2008 I think a few kind people started to post a thread linking to all the comps ending a particular date - but the hassle they had if they missed a comp... Then some people would be working on a list Comps Ending offline and somebody else may post it instead which would upset them... Then the poor BGs tightened up how many Ending threads were allowed live on the main board at the same time.
However when it was suggested we all use the same Expiry Date format, the resistence was quite large. It was thought we would never all get used to using it, newbies would be put off, too much bumping to remind people , op's wouldn't alter title...
Heres a linkie hopefully to show the Ending threads and you can see from their links how disorganised it used to be.My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

it's some of the weeklys & the monthlys,
.
then the problem is that the weeklies and monthlies need tidied up better. so if that was done would people be prepared then to trial using them? (the answer to which is no at the moment, as those being most vocal over their disgust at threads been moved to regs and demands for scrapping of the regs board alltoghter wont even take two minutes and consider trying it that way).
i know ppd was working on the monthlies, and i know gilla has started to catch up on the dead links in weeklies, which i and others post at the end of the thread for her as we come across them.....now that i can see how well bhg has the daily thread laid out i agree it would be nice if the other two threads were done that way too....however until people stop seeing it all black and white there is little point in either gilla or ppd spending the time involved in trying to tidy them up. it takes enough time to swap the links every week/month when the exact same comp is reposted with a different prize (like the hello comp, its ongoing, its the same url as old link takes you to new prize and could easily have prize updated in one thread each week by whomever spots the changbe first = less work for gilla with swapping links and less work for the op)0 -
Just a heads up to everyone that uses Facebook to be careful what information you give and allow others to access when you are entering competitions from this social networking site
