Would also like to get feedback on the monthly comps as there were some comments before that people found the list daunting etc the reason its like that currently is purely for the fact that there are so many monthly comps and started it up so everyone would only have one place to enter from as opposed to going through the whole reg board every month.

Dont see how having all the monthlies in main baord would work, as lots of them have no end date so would have to be posted as E: Monthly

As i said before, i can sort the monthly comps into sections so its easier to read and to enter plus state all the new ones that have been added, but this will be a lot of work but if people arent fussed then i wont bother, as last time i set up the monthly thread it took me about a week

Im the same as gilla, barely get time to enter any of the regs, have only just started entering the postals properly, as so much of my time is taken up by posting comps, organising the facebook group with cat and then starting up the mini forum, so any feedback on monthlies would be great :D

(So glad I don't appear to have offended anyone, this truly wasn't my intention.)

I'm in agreement with you GrannyBiker. I think at least the monthly comps should be put on the main board. There are too many of them on that list to go through now, so you tend to get bogged down in them.
I do appreciate all the hard work that goes into sorting them, but its maybe now unnecessary

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The boards have grown and evolved in such a way now that the majority now find the "Regs" superfluous. I am, however, aware that there are those who comp by end date that rely on them, so recognise that they too are entitled to have their views considered.
As for getting "Bogged down," it doesn't help that there's no "Expired" button in regs. I know Glad and some other fab volunteers worked hard to do a trawl of the boards & get rid of all the comps that were over or had expired links, but that's all been in vain if new ones that expire are left to clutter the boards up again.

I miss most of the regulars as I seem to spend my time on the main board, either posting or entering. My own fault I know :-)

Like you & Korky, I simply don't have enough hours in the day to trawl through regs too. I only enter if I spot them on the main board and pop them into a "Daily" folder in my favourites before they're shunted over.
The present policy of comps being moved basically requires you to search through two boards to comp efficiently and most of us simply don't have the time.

However, again, I have to note several daillies / monthlies are still on the main board, and have been for ages, unchallenged. This inconsistency means those who comp by end date are missing them and those who enter from the main board are missing those that have already been moved. Lose/lose situation :(

I must admit the only rehulars that I do are the ones that are posted on the main board in the first instance. Why can't every comp be on the main board and then linked to the regulars like Toni did with the Advents?

This worked brilliantly. Mainly I know, because she worked hard to maintain it. Monthlies etc aren't so manic, so I'm guessing / hoping Gilla & PPD (who already do such sterling work :A) would be happy to continue for those who comp by end date, so need a separate list?
IMHO this would be an ideal compromise.... :D

(Must have been typing as you replied :). Your input is great as you're obviously very significant in this debate. Also a chance to say a huge "Thanks" for all you do :A)

You're right, the reason the list seems daunting is that there are simply so many. Perhaps we shouldn't grumble about too many comps :rotfl:?!
Can't really see an easy / workable solution to that other than advise folk to only enter those they want, as they do now from the main board, and bookmark/ create a folder in their favourites and check back regularly for any new ones added to your list
Dont see how having all the monthlies in main baord would work, as lots of them have no end date so would have to be posted as E: Monthly
At the moment, they've been posted with the end date as the end of the month, (or 28th etc if that's the day the comp closed / prize was drawn each month.) You hear so may of those who comp by end date express their horror at the sheer number finishing at the end of each month ! Surely if there's a separate prize each month, then they are separate comps? This may be a rather simplistic viewpoint, but then, am just a simple lass :rotfl:(Well, a few years back, LOL!)

  • i would also like a vote. i saw this one the other day, its on the reg board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2952992 yet you only need to enter once, to be then i the draws. imo this should be on the main board as its no different to any other comp on there which only needs to be entered once. plus, 39 thanks. a normal comp for a prize like that would get 10x that number of thanks

What is different now, to when we were posting a year of so ago is that there is the "enter" button, the New Topic button, + the End Date View, so it makes it easy not to miss stuff on the main board, that, in my opinion makes the lists unecessary. They served a purpose previously, but unfortunately now they have been superceded.
Its far easier to keep up to date by using a combination of New Topic & End Date View, as I discovered after having a few weeks off.

Regards comps that have ended in the monthly list etc. I find that when I am comping, I just want to get on and do them, and by the time you have gone back and found the ones that have expired and then sent a message to whoever sorts them I have lost my place, and spend valuable comping time getting back to where I was - that's maybe just me, I don't know what anyone else thinks.

I must admit I miss the chatter on the threads, irritating as it is, but the various buttons get rid of that bumping up the threads.
If there is something you want to say about a comp, or find out, it won't get picked up in the discussion thread, as most people are too busy comping and don't end up here. Its not very often that I do myself, and I am pretty much on top of the comps- the only ones I had missed were the regular ones, which was a shame, as in the past they are the ones that I have won quite a bit on. Again probably because the majority of people miss them out.

I know this sounds very selfish, but its fact.

hasn't been updated since june (unless i'm missing something :o)
so to get the latest comps posted for regs is to use the both boards as GB says click on each link to see if they've been updated, which does take a lot of time up :o
the new comp ends at the end of each month by the looks of it
so couldn't these be posted on main as E: 31/ ...

Thats just the sort of thing that I mean.

The thing is if you do update the post, its still not going to be seen in the regulars board, far better for them to be posted with date end on the main board.

Ok, a few might get duplicated, so what, its better for them to be dupes, than not seen at all. If you've not seen it, you've not entered anyway.

I'd really appreciate if monthly/weeklies where there is a different prize and /or different question each month/week are posted seperately in the normal board. I would say these are individual competitions myself.

Similary to others, I do not like the regular forum and competitions being posted straight there. I've found I've missed quite a few because of it.

I enter competitions when they are posted on the main board, and then if they are monthly/daily etc. and I want to enter them I'll add them to my own daily/monthly folders in my Favourites.

I suppose I'll just have to remember to visit the Regulars board, well, regulary!
    2009 Wins = £833
    2010 Wins = £6,597
    2011 Wins = £7,083

    £2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
    20 in 2012 = 4/20

    Agreed.

But then I have no idea what a regular is supposed to be :o

Lol same! I post competitions from several craft magazines, every month there are new prizes, I post every month.

Is that considered a regular? Not that I'm going to post it in Regulars!!!

When did all this change come about btw? I only started comping again in December after having a break since the beginning of October.
