I'm from the U.S. so I deal with dollars. I hope that's okay. I'm still in school, so my savings are kind of small:
ING Direct: $455

As for income, I'm on Incapacity Benefit (about £98/wk). I'm hoping to start back to work very part-time from next academic year (I'm a teacher) all being well so if anyone knows the best way to do this without suddenly losing all my benefit that would be helpful? I heard there's some 6-month back to work programme? I'm desperate to get back to work but due to nature of my illness I have to build back up very slowly:rolleyes:, only a couple of hours to start with.
Not wanting to start an argument but why shouldn't you lose your benefit when you get back to work and start recieving a wage again? Why should the taxpayer continue giving you benefit when you've been able to start working and earning again?0 -

Jamie - why not send them a PM to come back to the thread. Problem is, there has been so many posts here that maybe most of the things that can be said have been said. I am still saving, but I have said it all before about what I am doing, where I am saving and ideas I have had... maybe the thread is starting to run out of steam a little.0 -
Save a lot -
thats a real shame isnt it:( this thread is a fantastic idea and also a huge influence on me wanting to clear my debt which i now have done.
it is also a great way to gee each other up into thinking of new (and old) ways of increasing our monthly savings.
as much as i dearly love the DFW board, now i am DF lots of the threads arent applicable to me anymore and i need a new home lol
the savings olympic challenge was such a good idea! Im still searching for ways to cut my budget, make more money and put as much into savings as possible (i never want to be in debt again!)
and also as the DFW's get to the end of their journey, a lot of them will be looking for somewhere to post their new achievements.
but as i said its a shame if this thread runs dry:(November NSD's - 70 -

I think you misunderstand me Ferox. Having been a taxpayer myself for many years I understand where you're coming from but I am only well enough to work one or two hours a week initially and build up gradually from there (this may take years). As I'm sure you'll agree I won't be able to survive on that little income a week! I was in no way suggesting that I work AND keep my benefits. Please don't assume that all people on benefits are slackers, I absolutely love my work and am devastated to have had to give up a job I love and all my independence. I would gladly trade places any day.The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I'm here
My savings pattern has been quite boring lately - haven't had any windfalls and none are likely, so I'm just feeding my Regular Savers each month to the tune of £1250.
