    Thanks JD.

Going to Egypt at the beginning of September.

Also thinking about going away at the beginning of November, but still got a few months to save up for that so hopefully wont have to use my flat deposit.

  • Hi,just found this thread, been on the MSE forums for a little while now but never looked at the savings board before:o .I have never saved before in my life, well unless you count christmas club savings when I was a child;) .
I am getting married in Nov 2009:j (couldn,t do Nov 2008 as it would mean saving £600 a month, not possible for us at the minute, spinning lots of plates)
I need to save up at least £9,000:eek: so will aim slightly over.I aim to save £350 a month for the next 26 months, deposits alone would be £9,100 and any interest on top of that.
I am going to look for the best savings options for me and start saving this month.
Its a double whammy for me because not only do I need to save this amount every month, but as our household budget is very tight I also need to earn this amount extra on top of our current income to pay for my wedding:D .
Posting here will definately keep me on track.I already use the DFW thread and the Grocery Challenge thread to keep me motivated and they work wonders.:A

I am also doing well this month, went on holiday but I have a seperate fund to pay for that so managed to save another 500 quid this month.

I move into a brand new flat in 2 weeks on shared ownership which will cost me about 25k in deposit, but i still keep my original isa savings and share funds which is cool.

Only bad thing this month is my shares have taken a battering on the stock market downturn but its a long term investment so i'm not to worried about that.

    Hi

Damn cars, my Smart's steering column decided to seize - but, £500 later it is fixed, the Smart/Mercedes dealership definately knows how to charge!

I have the money to cover this unexpected bill, but it is such a pain getting the money into the right pot to cover it. I am tempted to leave any money in savings accounts alone and just pay the credit card balance back. So, over the next month or so I will not save but just pay that bill off from my salary.

Naughty me! Hardly saved anything over the last couple of months :( Been to Belgium, having to buy 4 new tyres for the car and also having the car serviced this month has meant that all available cash has had to be spent. Still, with any luck from next payday I should be able to start saving again. No real rush, I'd just like to have a little nest-egg :D.

Despite overspending on holiday last month still managed to save just over £2000! Very pleased although it came from a lot of overtime - next month won't be as fruitful unfortunately ...
