  • Sometimes its difficult to save or put aside some extra cash, because there are times we have to spend on unexpected expenses.

I would save as much as i could though, and avoid going to the mall :)

Interesting thread, would be nice to see others contribute!

I try to save £400-500 a month on a meagre salary, wish I'd started several years ago.

It is really difficult living on a budget, I'm wondering if I am just being too strict, anyone care to give any pointers?

Hi Snow! I'm totally there with you, living on a budget is tough, especially when none of your friends care about saving.
Maybe, if you currently feel miserable living on that very strict budget, try allowing yourself 50£/month for extras: it'll slow you down a bit, but you might feel better. Obviously, it also depends on the target you've set for yourself :) I'm trying to save up for a house deposit, so it's more of a marathon than a sprint and I can't live 2/3 years without the occasional treat :A
