Well, so far I've saved £150 and put it into a cash ISA. I'm aiming to save £300 a month for the next three months. My husband has had a pay cut at work, so I'm pleased we still managed to save despite this. It is a tiny amount compared to many on here, but I need to start somewhere.

    great thread---wish to join it

although im paying my mortgage off--i have £60 savings total----no emergency fund

i do have £50 a month stock/shares isa which totals £700 for longterm

so i intend to put £20 a week into a cash isa to build up emergency fund

ive never saved because i thought small amounts werent good enough--everyone says you must fill isa each year(depressed because i had no hope)

but reading thru this thread-- all types of savings --and in time they add up

if you like buying books--www.play.com is fantastic(very cheap)

The Income Tax Act 1961 is a voluminous piece of legislation. Taxmann Publications' latest edition of the Act runs into 1,125 pages. It's enough to intimidate even the most diligent law student and tax expert, leave alone ordinary taxpayers. But hidden away in the 300-odd sections and 14 schedules are clauses that can benefit ordinary taxpayers-provided they know how to claim those benefit.
