I went to my building society yesterday and opened up an account for my holiday savings. I then asked them to make up my books and I had a huge shock. I have been putting money away as and when I can and just sending it via internet banking. I have managed to save £1507.98 without even realising it. I am well on my way to smashing my £2500 target, I am so proud I was nearly skipping down the street!!#1200 - Sealed Pot challenge £1263/£300

Well done Tara! I've shamed myself recently and only managed £600 last month.... sniff! I haven't been very MSE at all lately, but I have been having a lot of fun sooo, I'm over it! Will try harder in the future though! That said I did get some inheritance so I've been lucky lately and I'm increasing my overall total aim to £80,000 on the basis I get my full year's tax back which I hope to find out about in the coming months.0

Well done everyone for a good January!
I finally have a new debit card, only took 18 working days! Also my OH has paid up what he owed me so I have just been able to transfer all savings from Jan into my ISA, plus £43 I got for recycling my old mobile
I'm almost at £4000! :jNot much compared to many of you but it's the most I've ever had and it's growing a lot faster since I got more hours in September!
I also have £360 in an easy access saver towards car servicing, MOT and insurance etc so not doing too badly!
I've applied for a first direct 1st account and plan to close the santander 'joke' account. Does anyone have that account?
Hope you all have a good month of saving in February!"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Can I join in? We got debt free a while ago but have been living a hectic mad life recently, twin babies, moving overseas then coming back when it didn't work out six months later, ill health, and generally spending to survive the chaos!
We are finally back in the UK, the twins are now toddlers, things are more settled and boy did I miss ASDA!
We've drawn up a rough monthly budget and need a month or so until things calm down further for us to stick to it rigidly.
Meanwhile I have set us the challenge of saving £40k in four years. We need a deposit for a house! I am currently ebaying like a woman possessed and we have a part-time photography business outside of DH's main job (I am a stay at home mum in between working on the business). Any photography profits go towards our savings and DH wants to go full time as a photographer in 4 years!
It's so nice to be saving instead of paying off debts. Really surreal! Good luck to everyone.Pay off CC debt by Xmas 2017 #095 £0 of £11,416 :eek:0
