Thanks for the welcome and tips.
I rent a house, with my partner, my one year old daughter and his oldest girl at weekends. i earn £145 a week as currently part time with the little one. My partner is self employed, so cash can be good one week then not the next. Im really good with money, my partner isn't... he just cover the bills 95% of the time and then everything else comes from me. If my partner didnt blow his money i could save more... but im not going to nagg him were very happy and he works hard so not going to deny him. I want to save for a deposit for a house, i can see long term but my parnter can only see short term (ie he spent £400 of his wages (on projects) last week and this week im having to him mine. he knows he got a £700 cheque coming so blew the money in pocket rather than using that for needs and spending money when its in.
Bills - none can be lower expect its time to swap gas and electric. Food is a possible place to save as have to get in all in one big shop and time (if my partner with me we have to pay the £6 for a jar of coffee and not wait til the next day when i can get it for P£2.19)
Doing ok on ebay. £103 this year. Doing some survey sites. Sold old broken phones on mazuna £15 and music magpie £7. So just working to slowly top up the pot.Debt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -

I have been saving for last 12 months and have managed to save over £11,000.
I normally save around £1000 a month. Hopeing to save upto £20,000 till the end of year to use it as deposit for house.0 -
Argh! I just open a post office account and now I see there are better instant accounts now! Frustrating. I have decided that I will definitely quit my job in the next few years so now I have to decide if it's a good idea to buy a house at all or if I should do it sooner rather than later. I think I would like one anyway and potentially rent it out but that is a scary thought!
It's now getting really hard to find accounts to keep my cashing working hard without locking it away if rates are going to go up or I need to use it. I've opened a First Direct for their 8% and I think I will do an HSBC 4% but I don't really like these little bitty regular savers.0 -
Me neither bodmil, it's a real faff! I wish IRs were higher - about 10% would do nicely lol.
