I put £300 into a high risk stocks & shares ISA
I then just put the rest in my HSBC savings account (making sure I always have around 500-1000 in my debit account) but I only get like 10p interest a month from a few grand)
I'm not saving for anything in particular, but I need to find something better than my HSBC savings account, I just don't know what

Personally, I've gone for the Santander account. I have about 20 different accounts, and I just can't be bothered to get one with the Post Office, but as I've already got an account with Santander (it was with A&L) it was simple to go for that one.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

What an excellent thread.
I've opened three regular savers to start the year :
£300 per month into FirstDirect @8%
£250 per month into Teachers BS @4% &
£200 per month into Saffron BS @4%.
I've also got a £100 per month direct debit into my Post Office saver @2.9% and £200 into the Barnsley @2.5% and, finally, a sweep on my current account to pop what's left at the end of the month into my esaver with FD - I'll use this to top up my cash ISA when we hit the new tax year.
I've nothing particular that I'm saving for, but would like to hit £20k added to my savings this year.
Good luck all,
x0 -

Payday today so I've transferred £350 into the ISA and just over £20 into the 'saving for s/e taxes fund' just to top that up a bit too. My birthday at the weekend so hopefully I'll get an extra £50 to pay in next week and that is intended for the ISA too.ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0

Payday tomorrow! I can save £1000 a month is it best to split my saving or putting it all in one account?0
-
I appreciate you post. I've been saving a lot. I think, you are right. We all should keep track of everything in a diary. I have a lot of excel files on my computer because I am always computing how much will i earn in a month and how much will I spend for my monthly bills and needs.0
-
split it up
and make sure that you will not use the money saved in the other savings account. 0
