I've managed to save £1500 this month - half into the Rainy Day Fund and half to the Trans-Siberian holiday fund. Both are looking good :T

    £1500 in a month? That's really good going. :T

Managed to save an extra £440 this month even though I've had some pretty large credit card bills. Think my signature is a bit incorrect but will have to wait until my ISA has transferred and my regular saver has ended to confirm this.

Am I the only one here who thinks back to all the money they have wasted in the past and really regrets it?

I’m really pleased with the savings I have and how I have saved since I have left school but I still look back to the past and really regret some of the spending I have done and know I could have saved more.
I was looking back at bank statements and the amount I spent on driving lessons (and I still have not got my licence) is criminal.. Nearlly 2k on driving lessons and tests!
I have also wasted lots of money on clothes that I never wear and also countless pounds on pointless travel and food where I could have walked or eaten in doors.
I wish I was always as aware of money and saving as I am now haha.

When I first left Uni I had a live in job with only my phone bill to pay and occasional petrol - I could have saved so much! I spent most of it on travelling and going to gigs though - all of which were fab experiences. I still spend way too much on both those things :D.

Anyway - will probably add £100 to savings tomorrow, hopefully pick the pace up again next month.

Haha on the bad side of things....

I have just been peer pressured into buying an Xbox 360. However, its £240 and I get that + 2 controllers + 5 games. I will sell 3 of the games I imagine though so thats some money back!

Otherwise, new month! Ended last month on budget so happy about that.

if you want xbox live for that lokolo, my bf buys codes from ebay every year when his runs out, I think he pays about £25 rather than £5 a month, or I think about £40 something from xbox. He's never had a problem with it!

    Hi all

I've decided to post on here to make me keep up with the savings bug. I got it after paying off debt from my LBM a few years ago.

'We' aim to save £35k for a deposit by Dec 2011 although more would be really nice!

It's been good to read all the posts from the last few months and the amazing lengths that those who post on here go to to save their money.

Well done everyone, but in particular the students/graduates - I wish I had done it at that point in my life!

'We' have also decided that when we buy, we don't want to go over the 3.5x on mortgage - again, another good idea from a few people on this thread.

    Thanks
