On the money front, the SRE fund is up to £687 now so I should really get around to booking the eye test now!
Tara - Yay for £36k! I can't imagine being able to save £1,600 in a month. I think the most I've ever saved is £1000 and that was a big one off!
Oh, your poor cat. I love cats, they are such clever, flirty little creatures. Hope she picks up xoxo
Yes, the £1,600 was very good going. It was a combination of a very low spend month, using £25 of vouchers in Tesco that I got from a food complaint, the chopped tomatoes glitch:D (May's food bill was VERY low!), a few shop returns from April purchases, Quidco/TCB cashback etc.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

So so sorry to hear about your cat dippykitty. I had almost exactly the same situation with my dog last year. That's definitely the reason we save money at the end of the day. And why my dream is to marry a vet!!
On the money front, I'm debating not buying another car... but I like to cycle a lot and drive to nice places and I do skiing on a dry slope. I'm not entirely sure what a bus driver would make of me waiting at the bus stop with skis over my shoulder! But my priority is a house so perhaps I should just give up my hobbies for a while and focus on the long term plan. Dunno like!0 -
And Tara! £1600! Show off! :rotfl::T
Although I'm due to be paid in.... 5 hrs and 10 mins and I hope to post my total which should be good thanks to working away from home all month and not spending much at all. There's nothing quite like pay day!0 -
Yeh Tara, show off! Impressive as you live with your partner and not at home with your parents. how much do you earn net if you dont mind me asking?
£1500 a month is £18,000 a year. Now that is impressive if you could keep that up!

The vet said to leave her tablets off until after the weekend and see if that can encourage her to eat again. Not sure what to do if it has an effect as she really needs the tablets and can't afford not to have them, so catch 22 really! If the stimulant had worked, I'd have happily spent as much of my savings as necessary for her but it doesn't look like it's going to help so I'm probably going to have to start preparing myself for the worst soon.
Thank you to everyone who's offered support - I really appreciate all of the messages/concern!ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -

Sorry, I prefer not to say, hope you don't mind!
I can't save £1,600 every month (well, I could but I like travelling too much!), but I am aiming to save £12,000 in 2010 to take me up to £42,000. At the minute I'm well on track to meet or exceed that so I'm happy.
I have always been quite good with money but it's only since joining MSE that I've really become a good bargain hunter and discovered the joys of charity shops, eBay, car boots, sales, glitches, cashback etc. I live a great life on less than half of what I used to spend, which is fantastic. :T
