I didn't think £100 from A&L would cover the hassle :P
I wasn't aware of all the options, I just thought Free £100! It might go OK then I'll just switch elsewhere, hopefully with the £100"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Morning lovelies xx Hope every1 is well this glorious day (am a new gal on the block). Hope its ok to join in. see my sig for saving update. Have been doing really well on the saving front. This time last yr i was about to get married with £7k worth of debt!!!
I cleared all that and am now heading in the right direction. However small disaster struck.Hubby and I relocated to a very expensive area average rent for a 1bed in £750. am the only one working as he is full time student. we vowed to live below our means to keep saving 4 a house. so we rented a room in a shared hse - its been such a shock to the system after moving from a nice 1bed that we rented for £495. Hubby is finding it harder than I am and wants us to move into a place of our own. what do I do? am so confused - is there any1 out there that can relate please advice this new wife xxHow Much can you save -£6038/£10000

I'm confused. Do you live in the expensive 1 bedroom or the shared house??
Also its usually a good idea to have an aim amount, as its very motivating when you get to a point, like 50%. Or for me it was £10k mark.
Talking of me (:D) my Cash ISAs which were 4.2% fixed and 2.5% variable have now been moved into a 1 year 3.05% with Aldermore. Not a great rate but I plan to move them together in a years time. My Halifax 2 year will mature just before these 2 as well.
All in all, if I manage to fill up my ISA next year (which means I need to find an extra £1200 on top of my student loan) I will have £17,000 (which includes interest from the fixed ISAs above). Will be extremely happy if that happens. Just need to find that extra £1200!
I also want April to come along as I get paid and student loan, so £600 into Car Savings then, and £600 into Uni Savings.0 -

Uni savings is for living off. If I have enough spare at the end I will put it into my Uni Savings Goal, but primarily that was for student loan only.
Car? At the moment I want a mazda3 sport. But they're quite big so have been having second thoughts and maybe thinking just getting a newer fiesta, but Fords second hand dealer website is shocking and they only have cars with <5k miles (which then go for £10k+!).0 -

Is it possible to rent a bigger house with another person/couple for up to £1k a month so you pay £500 and at least have half a house to share? I'm guessing if you've relocated this plan may not be possibleJustice for the 96 YNWA

OH and I have seen a house that we like, it ticks a lot of boxes but seems overpriced imho. It's almost £190k and I wouldn't want to pay more than £175k (absolute maximum) for it. It is, however, the cheapest house of its kind in the area that we are looking at.
Pros:
4 bedroom end terrace (loft converted into fourth bedroom and could be perfect as an office)
Great area
Very large kitchen
Garden
Gas heating and cooker
Working fireplace
Garden with gates (off-street parking via back of house but I would rather have it as a garden lol)
Cons:
No driveway (on-street parking seems fine though)
Small bathroom
Two of the bedrooms are pretty small (could fit a double bed but not too much else so would stick with singles!)
Horrible carpets (would these be expensive to replace? I would be thinking wooden floor in the lounge, tiles in the hall and carpets upstairs)
HORRIBLE fireplace (are the nice black traditional ones expensive?)
I'm going to go back for a second viewing alone this week, as OH is too distracting!!! :rotfl:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
