  • Hi, New here as of today but im a single mother with an incurrable addiction to shoes but i manage to save £200 a month! I work, dont get me wrong im not living off tax payers. Ever since i was 18 (paying tax etc) i've taken 'free' cash out after all bills have gone out and given it to my parents,at the end of each month i've put it in my savings account...it adds up! Im not made of money, far from it i just know how to budget. This site is new to me but already im learning new cost affective ways of making my money go further...love it!!

I'm doing that challenge too, and transferring the money straight into my ISA every couple of days to try and bump the total up a little bit more!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)

Thanks, good luck to you with your target

I can't even set a target, either by the end of the month i will have reached my £10,000 target, or my next months wage won't even cover the overdraft

New target il set it high and say £10k saved by 31st of December 2010 and be debt free! So really about £12.5k needs to be taken from my wages to get there! Even if i only got half way, debt free and £5k, still a lot more than iv ever had! Just glad im 18 and got little overheads when i got a bit of debt so i made a mistake but now its not a mistake its a lesson, il do well from this and not got into bad debt again! Get excited when i think about how good i can and WILL be doing in just a few short months!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

I save £925 a month, but this is split into pots for household maintenance (£75), holidays (£125), general savings (£550) and mortgage overpayments (£175).

This is due to go up another £200 soon with £100 extra to both mortgage overpayments and general savings.
