How much can you save?

I am pleased with myself. I have exceeded 50% of my target, which feels really good.
For November I am budgeted within an inch of my life. I hope to save £500 which is around my average monthly savings - but the average month doesn't have all the expenses associated with Christmas! (Two work Christmas meals in November which will cost me around £30 each, plus 3 people inconsiderate enough to have a birthday in November).
I also have an MOT and service booked in next weekend, and as this month is the last payment on my car loan the payment is nearly double to clear the balance. Very reassuring to know that on the 8th November, I will have no debts at all (unless I buy anything on a credit card, but that doesn't really count as I pay the balance in full by DD each month). I like the idea of not owing a soul a penny.

I'm so sorry Tara, I didn't get sent that bit!!!
Bummer! :rotfl:I'm still managing to save between £1500-1600 PM this tax year from my wages and a bit more from other interests. Up to around 33k not counting the money in my current account to cover my bills and hope to keep going the same way until i can find something better to do with my hard earned savings.
Why not aim high and go for 12k next year Tara? Wage rise, extra interest. You can do it!
Oooh, now that is a bit of a challenge... maybe I'll meet you halfway and go for £11k! The ol' interest isn't what it used to be, although I am getting £50-ish net per month from high interest current accounts and should be in line for £450 from my ISA even at the piddly IRs currently available.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

the grand total at the end of the month is £14,541.10, just a few hundred under my goal for the year.

I've managed to get to £800 so far, so 50% of my target. I should be able to put more away by the end of the month! Hopefully anyway.0 -

Payday on Friday. I am aiming to put £600 in savings. But it leaves things very tight. Luckily I have things planned for all this month so I should be ok.
I want it to be next year already! So many plans, so much waiting!
hostie - have you started looking for places? or are you going to try and save a bit more on top before?0 -
Has anyone here had any dealings with we promise to .co.uk? Got £80 in my account, been 3 months and they havnt paid me
Anyway savings are up £366.19, bringing the total to £1,366.21.
Got another 2 pays this month, next one on Friday the 13th. At least £350 savings each pay would take my savings upto £2,416.21 before xmas. So i think il aim for an extra £27.93 each payday so i get an extra £83.79 and get £2,500 for xmas.
Aim is £377.93 a fortnight
I think my aim for next year will be to get a total of at least £10k. So £7.5k for the year which will be easier the 2nd half of the year after my pay goes up.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

hi lokolo,
havent started looking at places yet - have been hovering over rightmove at the moment, having a look at the houses for sale round my area - but there doesnt seem to be much choice at the mo.
im going to keep saving til i find something that i like on rightmove, there is no rush for me. its just nice to know that when i do find something i can go straight in - rather than trying to find money to top up the deposit side of things. lol.
i have about £2.5k in a seperate account not counted towards a deposit to use for fees etc.
i would like to save a 15% deposit but alongs i have 10% when i start looking then im happy :j
are you saving for something in particular?
