Nice one. My car broke broke yday. Called the AA man out just a minute ago, he should be here around 4.10. If he can't fix it its off to the garage for a new alternator. £200 down the drawin (FS).

Cars are a bottomless pit that you have to keep throwing money down :(

Its a good news bad news !

£85 for new alternator. Urgh expensive. Good news, he fits it for free so no labour.

However on fixing the new one he found my fanbelt adjustor had snapped so he has bogged it up and it fine to go a few miles but not long distance (so home :() so means I need to take it to garage, which with the cost of the new alternator, I cannot afford!

Couldn't wait till payday so transferred half of what I'll hopefully be left with at the end of the month to my pre-isa saving account. Hopefully my calculations about remaining outgoings are correct! Am online to save about 45% of this month's (end of feb's) pay. So very pleased and it hasn't meant me living like a pauper...if I could only get my clothes shopping habit under control I'd be able to save 50%
Calculations weren't correct so will only be able to save 38% this month. Definitely an incentive to curb the clothes habit!

Haha nice one! Are you going to sell the shares now? Buy low sell high and all that!

Sold them just before close today for a profit of £386.39... With it being a volitile stock my profits could easily be wiped away in one days trading as I saw a 25% drop on the 5th march. So that gives me a boost for my savings!

I know how you feel. Mine keeled over on the way to college last Tuesday and wouldn't restart. AA bloke comes out but can't do anything as it's mid-engined (takes like 20 mins to get into the engine bay). Tow to the garage, new rotor arm (number 3 now, 2 I've changed myself) and wave goodbye to £70 :-(

Still, it's payday on Friday, I'm looking forward to hitting the £3000 mark :D Plus my boyfriend has just paid his last credit card payment so is joining me in the race to £10k (each). Now, I like a bit of competition, and I am £3k ahead of him, but he earns about £700 a month more than me so I'm really going to have to work to keep my lead!

Nice one!!! I wish I had the nerve... I keep thinking about investing, because saving is barely worth it right now, but I'm too scaredy cat!

Besides, I'm doing badly money wise this month. Payday can't come soon enough. Though I've spent about £500 more this month than I'll earn... so it'll be my first loss in ages :( I was hoping to hit £10k this month, then I decided I'd hit that in April, now I'm not so sure!

    Hi all,
Just been paid this month (£1000) so that takes my savings up to £21,600. Still on target to reach £30,000 by the end of 2009. I might have to do a bit of wheeling and dealing on eBay to reach my target though. Good luck all:beer:
