  • So hugely pleased, just done all the payday sums and we've managed to save more than planned this month :)
    From today we are turning over a new leaf and taking our savings amounts out of salary on payday and curbing our spending to what is left, rather than seeing what is left and throwing it in the savings!
    I have a feeling we really might do it :j

    Well January's almost over so now's as good a time as any to review this month's savings, and I've amazed myself by saving 60% of my net income! :D

    The aim is to do the same again for the next two months. It's a big ask but after a decade or more of sporadic saving and frequent spending, I am determined to build up a little nest egg...

    At the moment i have a free £1k overdraft as i am a recent graduate so i have been living in that and transfering everything over 0 into my savings. I found that i only went about 400 into my overdraft this month so i might transfer everything over -200 into savings next pay day and gain some interest on the banks money :P

    * Savings Update - January 2009 *

    Jesus! Its the first one of these this year and for the next few months I am expecting a struggle more than anything else to save money completely... Okay I am going to start okay this month with saving £600 and I still have my C905 which is being relisted on enay diue to a non-payer which is expected to give another £250.

    I am feeling a bit sick in all honestky because I have went from working hours upon hours of overtime to absolutely none at all. So now I will be lucky to beat basic wages over the next few months.

    I think my savings target for 2009 may well be have to revised.

    Quick update, I've just popped £600 (bit optimistic, hopefully won't have to borrow it back) in my savings so my pre-ISA pot is now full and waiting for April. From next month on I'm going to buy premium bonds with my monthly savings for a few months.

    How do I get a signature by the way, it's about time!

    Got to USER CP at the top of the page in the green band underneath where it says "Welcome markalun" and click EDIT SIGNATURE from the left hand side... ;)

    Hehe! Signatures are important on this board :) You can have pages of spreadsheets or endless MS Money reports, but a good old sig makes it nice and clear and concise.
