Ha nice one. You back on Monday then? I started back 2 weeks ago!
I actually have £7700 in savings but I am dripfeeding out some of that for rent etc. so I actually have the moneys in my signature meh.
This year is going to eventful me thinks!0 -
My savings this month have been ok and as I've got two more pay days this month (I get paid weekly!) I should be able to put a bit more aside... the only question is where. Maybe I'll top up my ISA. Oh wait...
Last week, I decided to open an ISA with HSBC through my internet banking (not the greatest interest rate but it's convenient as it's linked with my current account). I received a letter yesterday declining my application because apparently I'm "not resident in the UK"!!! Er... !!!!!!?!
I rang them up to complain and it turns out that despite the fact I have banked with HSBC since 2002, and despite the fact I have moved to three UK addresses between then and now, and that I am – and always have been – on the electoral roll, and get a salary paid in, they have me down as being resident in Ireland! And then they tried to blame ME for it by saying I'd sent them a letter requesting they change my country of residence!
Needless to say I got a touch stroppy with them and although they apologised profusely and changed my country of residence to the UK so that my "application for an ISA would now go through", I told them I'd rather take my business elsewhere! HUMPH!If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

How annoying! Where will you be banking that money instead?
I filled up my ISA ages ago and I've worked out that I've almost got my £3600 that will be transferred there in April already. Provided that I earn some money in the next few months, I'll be looking for somewhere to stash my "overflow" that can't go in the ISA. I've been looking around but seeing as none of the interest rates are exactly what you'd call good, I've no idea what I'll be doing with it! If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them.ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -

Thanks everyone!dippykitty wrote: »Congrats! I bet that feels great
Yeah it feels fantastic! It's been hard work at times but I'm really glad I'm at this point. Can't wait to get to the big £10k, now that will feel wonderful! It's making me want to live the most frugal life possible in the coming months, just becuase I know how good it will feel.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. A few banks will put the money in/out at the weekend if you have things coming in or out on the Monday.
HSBC doesn't meh! I know Lloyds do though.0 -

I got mine tooYay! Can pay OH my half of the sofa money now and then get some of the rest moved into a savings account, when I finally decide which one to open  (already paid an opening £250 and first month payment of £250 into my Barclays Monthly Savings account at 6%, but not decided on where to put the rest yet).

Hello everyone that is new to the thread
its great having a place i can come and see how people are doing out there
Had a quick look at my money in all my accounts today and ive updated my signature with the details. As you can see my interest rates are now totally woeful
Im glad i got the regular saver from halifax at 5% because i think it will go down soon. I know i could have got 6% with barclays but i want to save £500 a month and i already had a halifax account making it quick and easy to set up.
I think i will leave my isa where it is for now and reasses in the new financial year, 2.9% is not too bad i guess.
My real dilema is with the money i have in an instant access esaver currently getting only 2.05%I really need to keep that money instant access as a kinda emergency fund but is it worth the hassle transfering to gain around 1%?
