LOL thought you might like the vid!

I don't blame you for lying about your cash. They say honesty is the best policy - well, it would be if people weren't so quick to use the truth for their own means!

Maybe you'll be able to turn it around completely and get your sis to pay for your driving lessons :rotfl:

LOL! I wish! :p but she's only like 15 so I'll wait till she's older  but tbh it's not really her thats the problem, I always treat her and i enjoy it cause she don't expect it ... I wouldn't mind helping out my parents or whatever but the thing is they expect it :rotfl:

Thanks Zag2me, that looks awesome. I'm gonna have to sort myself out one of them (tried puting my numbers into your chart but couldn't get it to look right). Mine will only go from April but its a start and maybe I can try to keep it for as long as you!

Thats my mission for tonight - or maybe tomorrow cos I'm almost ready for bed!

  • Dear all, could I please join you?

I am also a big "fan" of saving and could do with your experience and advice, you're all great!

Just a bit about my finances: a work full-time and I love my job but salary isn't great. I still save around £250-400 a month, though, which I put into my Abbey account, and then use my £3600 in their cash ISA and the rest in their E-Saver. In total, I've got £9.4k so far. I'm 27, ops!

I'm getting an "impressive" 4,30% in the E-Saver so I've been thinking on opening an Icesaver or Kaupthing Edge account for a while, now that my ISA is full, before I trasfer £3600 into it next year. Or maybe I should go for a Regular Saver option in the same Abbey?

Anyways, thanks to all for this great thread :-)

Well i've just started a savings spreadshhet to keep track of our money. BUT unfortunately it has NO bells and whistles..only got works on my puter...grrrr but better than nothing I supose! Anyway, my dh won £170 on a fruit machine yesterday and came home happily with it for me to put in the savings for our holiday! I'm so chuffed!

So our savings stand at: Christmas: Need £19 more then done for this year!!! (end of this month should do it!)~Done
    Baby spends: £94 £124
Holiday Spends: £540.17 (should have another £40 to put in by the end of this month) £544.17
    Holiday flight money: £640 £660
    ISA house money: £57
So a grand total of: £1331.17 Woo Hoo! It may not seem like a huge amount to some people but for us it's great as we've paid off debts to the tune of £4000 since Christmas too, and we have just got a couple more payments to go then we'll be debt free and really start to save properly for a house deposit! I literally cannot wait!!! Grand total of £1385.17 plus Christmas @ £315.58!
    2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£310

I would suggest a high interest account maybe fixed for a year for the money you already have saved - look ar Kaupthing for example (although you will need a savings account with them before you can transfer into a fixed deposit) - the monthly savings could also go into a high interest account (eg Kaupthing at 6.5%gross) but there are some accounts paying 7% plus gross - have a look at the best buy tables on say moneysupremarket.com
