I'm 30 now. You can do it!
Just trying to remember how much I had at 25. I think it was £25k, come to think of it.

If we're lucky, we'll beat even our own targets, and once money starts growing, I find it just gets faster. If Suzey can do it, so can we! I wish you all the best also, Frugality, and Suzey, and Driving Soon (though you seem to have disappeared atm), and everyone else. It's nice to have shared aims, and a common target. And my competitive streak will keep me focussed, when I could otherwise be lead astray. I spend a ridiculous amount on fast food because of passing fancies... but I shall think of you, and remember I have to keep ahead/keep up (when you overtake me)!Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Hello, I'm new here!
Im 18 and my boyfriend and I hope to save £20,000 by christmas 2010 for a house/flat deposit. (we have been together since we were 14 and have decided now is the time to start saving!)
We are both students training to become music teachers. We work part-time (me- Waterstones, him- HMV), so we don't have a huge income! But we both live with parents so no student loans to worry about.
So far we have £1,200 in a cash ISA. Hope to sart putting away £350 + a month each.
Can't wait to have our own place!!!!0 -

 Thanks Lucy! I wish you well too! :TI'm thinking of leaving my part time job soon, so I will really have to have luck on my side, to keep my savings :rotfl:

And welcome Sophie!

Welcome Sophie! And good luck with that - sounds an ambitious target, but all the better for that!
Hey jak you're starting early for Christmas! My Christmas fund has 92p in at the moment (left over from last Christmas), as I don't prioritise my savings into that area 'til later in the year.
I have a confession to make everyone: I was bad today. I bought myself a pair of shoes. (Btw, this is a bit like an alcoholic buying a drink...) Please do not hold back, be harsh with me, I don't deserve any nice words.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Consumables are allowed LTD, surely, otherwise we're not allowed to live!
I've just bought a cheap shirt from ASDA, for example...but using Lloyds 'Save the Change', with a twix the remainder is rounded up and put straight into my savings, coercively!0 -

I will take you on in that competition!! I've found the greatest motivator in the world to save money is to look at what other people had and try to do better than them
I wish you good luck (but i'm gonna win hehe:rotfl:)Save save save!!0 -
From your signature, I see you have a head start!!!
But sure, welcome to the challenge!

Wow lots of updates since I last looked at this thread! Well done everyone. I seem to be having a good month with saving :-)
Driving_soon - Well done for saving so much at a young age (I'm 22) - although I've always liked saving, I've never really concentrated on it until a couple of years back when I really got into it. Judging my your name you're soon to be a car owner - it'll all downhill from then on! Damn things cost a fortune (I love mine to bits though - it's a hobby).
My saving motivations? Short and longer term (ST & LT):
Short term: Off to Switzerland in August (well driving my MG with a load of nutty MG enthusiasts), I'm with my OH and we're going halves on everything but it's still going to be an expensive one. Aiming for about £700 (but haven't got the official costs yet). At the moment I have around £300 in the ST savings, with another £100 soon to go in. Then I have June and July paydays to make up the rest.
Long term savings - not saving for anything in particular, just a nest egg really. Could be a house deposit but it's going to be a long time before I scrape enough together for that. Currently using my ISA and a regular saver for this. I don't have a pension (they baffle me!) so I'm thinking the regualr saver could be 'extremely long term savings'0
