How much can you save?

If i was saving to total amount of cash for the year for a target, In 2007 i would of been £2,000 over my target before adding any Interest. I try to deposit £500 a month every month (£6,000 a year) into savings. Most months I deposit a lot more. I transfered most of my Instant Access Savings into an 1 year fixed rate bond (starting new years eve) with Icesave at 6.7% since its very unlikely that interest rates are gonna be going up in the near future. Let the Olympic Challenge of 2008 begin. It is the olympics this year in china in August as well.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0

So pleased with this month, i have been putting extra in to both my accounts. My target by april of this year was to save £1000 for decorating around the house and doing up the garden as well. So far i am going to save more than that, which i can then probably get some furniture for the garden :j. Going to the halifax today and ask them to change my isa to a different one as they have reduced my rate by 0.4%. So updated my signature for this year. Starting fresh with my piggy bank savings. Last year was only four months of savings which accounted to £30, so if a save the full year i could possibly get £100.0

Hi
Over Xmas we had a new arrival, a little girl. So, savings for 2008 will probably go on hold for a while and I think I need to really think what a realistic target would be for this year. I do plan to ensure that ISA's are filled (from existing savings), I plan to max out both of our childrens CTF's, but other than that I am unsure as I need to do a fair bit of spending this year, such as some new pieces of furniture etc. I thought £5000 could be realistic target, but that is a total guess.0 -
Ooooh, congratulations on your new baby girl! I hope she wasn't born on Christmas Day ;P I think that would be a moneysaving step too far ;P ;D
