Of course she is bonkers, but we love her really. She's only bought it to hang round here longer. ;)

Sympathies on the skintness. I am feeling the pinch a bit this month as we spent a bit too much on food hosting a bbq party for DS2s birthday, and settee payments kicking in. It will be ok, but we will live.

Yup, it does always work out.

13 years ago, almost to the week, I moved out of marital home with the deposit on a nice house (1) in a crappy area, and the promise of 1/2 of ex-oh's share save when it matured. 2 years later when it matured I got 9.5k and used it as a deposit on btl (2) across the square from me (still living in crappy area but the 9.5k wasn't enough to move me out into a better area). Since then:
    • Bought house 3 with Mr GG, still living in it. Came to an arrangement that he also 1/2 owned 1 & 2.
    • Bought house 4 with Mr GG. Still has original tenants in.
    • Bought house 5 with Mr GG. 3rd lot of tenants in.
    • Sold 1 & 2 and bought house 6 in Spain with no mortgage.
    • Mum died so inherited house 7. Still has original tenants in.
    • Now bought house 8.
13 years ago I had around 7k to my name. Now my share of property, less mortgages, is worth 280k (conservative estimate, prices are v low where I live). Less the 61.5k I owe Mr GG, still leaves 218.5k.

Bloody hell. Never set it out on paper like that before.

    Bloody hell.

    Bloody hell.

Lol no. No prize. You'd probably sell it to make money anyway against the mortgage ! :D

I think it's really amazing what you've done. You have to take risks in life or you don't get anywhere.

I wish I'd have done things differently.

    OK, quick update time*:
    • Finances at rock bottom
    • 1 tenant only paid 1/2 rent
    • New house issues - wiring condemned, central heating needs overhauled, leaking stopcock & £900 bill for new kitchen doors etc _pale_
    • 61.5k behind Mr GG in equity :(, so
    • 25 items on ebay, 8 selling, £31 so far, that'll make a big dent :D
    • Got my !!! in gear & submitted tax return - £1763 smackaroonies coming my way :T.
    • Need to remember that £72 of that is on Gift Aid charity donations so will pass that on to them (which will generate another £14.40 next year :D.) Nice Mr Tax Man :j
    • Made a bit of a hash of doing work budgets today so will work from home Thurs to fix, saving £15 :)
    • I have food & alcohol & toilet roll so all is well ;)
