But he has saved my life I reckon on a few occasions when out and about in rural Wales.

Is that because of the sheeping forecast...

This house is brilliantly placed in that the ground slopes gently away from it both front and back - there is ground half a mile away thats maybe 15 feet higher, but I reckon I'm really safe flood wise :)

Last house I was at, over 95% of the habitable area of the planet would be under water before waves started lapping at my door. Needless to say: Global warming - pah!

How very dare they malign our lovely Z!!!!

I'm not sure if you'd need a hat or a windscreen wiper here today - very, very misty, it was raining just before I got up, that soft rain that feels like it should really be in Ireland.

Weirdly (but goodly :D) the paid work I didn't get last week has sort of migrated to this week, so I have a day with 4 hours today .... so I must use the time I've got, as well as looking after myself. And part of that must be boiling up the sloes and the apples together, and chucking some sugar in, to make ... well, I know not what, but something. There's no recipe here, because I haven't taken the time to work out the proportions - I'm doomed, basically! I may resort to cornflour :o:o:o

If its anything resembling jam or fruity compoty stuff either freeze it or add veggie gelatine or jelly til it sets - you just need measure the amount you have in a jug and add the correct setting - I often do this rather than bumble about with boiling to setting point

Or bag up un set as compote type stuff.

    Or cornflours fine :)

Hey up me duck hope you're good. YAY to paid work - don't forget to look after yourself

KC, I find that if I put apples with blackberries and a bit of lemon rind and juice that is enough to thicken it. I never measure just chuck stuff in and keep checking. You will be fine.

Thanks folks! I'll go the sugary route first ... don't have any lemon, so I might try pineapple juice, on the principle that it *is* citrus .... and then I'll freeze in portions, I suspect :)
