Thanks RT! It has been rough, but I'm getting through. Pondering on what to do with the day now, as I'm not seeing my sister after all ... I don't want to do any gardening, but its *so* beautiful out there :j:j:j
So you do this hard graft called "sitting in the garden".

You know what, I sat outside yesterday reading a book for the first time in two years! When you're right, Z, you're right
Sorry its raining by you tho. It was *very* misty this morning, Bilbo Baggins misty, so not sit-outable then. Different story now
Gilli, I love it! I have some aniseed liqueur thats really old now - bought it in Ronda, in Spain, mostly because the bottle was so pretty, and I used to buy a bottle of the local booze wherever I wasI could finally open that and use the booze

Sloe picking and reading in the garden. Perfect Sunday in my book. Taking the time to sit and read is as important work as digging. You are fertilising your mind. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Thanks MrsMoo! Pottered off to pick the sloes - there's an actual avenue of sloe trees/shrubs, its astonishing, they border what I've called the oak orchard, which a local lady confirmed was actually self seeded - it looks it too, everything of such different ages. Fascinating. So the sloes, and the little bit I picked previously, are washed and are actually on a slow simmer - no alcohol involved this time
though next year I'll make a proper note of what to harvest when - there are kilos of fruit out there! I'll strain the fruit and, erm, not sure what then. Boil again and add sugar, to make sloe jelly? I'm sure I bookmarked some sloe links last time I was on about this, I'll check them out
Lazy reading: also donetho I did also condescend to put the dishwasher on
ETA: oops! *way* too much water to simmer the sloes:rotfl:

Ok then, what makes it "Bilbo Baggins misty" - and don't say "the consumption of beans..."Different story now
It is indeed. I'm now sat outside my little cottage for the week admiring the view.
The locals probably think it's perishing, but that's 5 degrees of latitude for you..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I know, I'm perverted like that. There's more out there, never fearits a long sloe avenue
Morning campers! I strained the sloeswill put the gubbins on the compost heap unless someone has some brilliant ideas. No chickens round here.... and I dumped the stewed apple in the liquid then. I'll boil them up today, add some sugar, and call it sloe and apple jelly/jam - I'll probably have to freeze it, because I don't think its all quite sterile enough - I'm a lazy tyke, after all
