Morning! Feeling very, very tired - I did a lot of hauling-of-little-garden-stones yesterday, *and* I finally stewed some of the apples that have been sitting on my kitchen table for a week
only sat down for half an hour or so before I went to the meditation class, thats not really enough for me
It wasn't a class *all* about meditation - in fact, I went to to their basics class years ago in another town. What was this one like? Imagine a timewarp, back to the 1950s .... when no one has heard of Buddhism, or meditation .... and when people sat in lectures and dutifully listened and were grateful for what the teacher could impart .... when anything like this was weird and had to be deprecated before people could believe their ears.... thats what it was like.
The only saving grace, such as it was, was that the whole point present day mindfulness was proved - I was in real pain with my shoulder joint, it felt like I needed Harry Potter's Skele-Grobut doing a proper meditation really stopped it for a little while.
Today .... some paperwork, some paid work, a trip to the coast to see my business partner. Hurray, to the last bit! And on my return, I'll hop over to Sainsbo for some fresh veggies.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning, good news that the meditation stopped the pain for a bit
I suppose it is all still quite alien to some people.. that does sound quite old fashioned though.

Thank you all for your word of encouragement. Can't even begin to tell you how much it means to hear them! (18 days and counting btw:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)...the whole point present day mindfulness was proved...

Horray to midfulness - so glad to hear to went out to the session even if it was a bit behind the times!:D I read recently that it takes 21 days to form a habit - so maybe this is the start of a good one?
Can I just say that a trip to the coast sounds so romantic - not THAT kind of romantic of course - but romantic in an idyllic pastoral spirit mending kind of way! (...and I'm so glad we've stopped calling him MrKC cause that was just plain confusing :rotfl:and could lead to all kinds of rumers;)...)

Glad that you got something from the meditation class. Will you go again and will it improve do you think?
RT, I live near the coast and all that you have said is spot on, very spirit mending and I love to sit on the beach in the wind and rain so thanks for reminding me. I might try to do that tonight. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:what can I say? Actually, the trip to see him was extra nice, because I arrived stupidly early, and his wife was still in the room where we have our meeting (and he was still in the process of getting up, the slob) so his wife and I sat and chatted over a cuppa tea. I never got down to the *actual* coast, not this time.

Good questions! I think i will go again - they run it constantly for 4 weeks, every 6 weeks I think - and people change all the time - they're Buddhist nuns, who go where the order sends them. This was the 3rd of 4, and it was apparently the 3rd teacher; since she's only just moved here, she may be doing it some while - I'll see how it goes, basicallyI don't think it will improve if she's the one who keeps doing it, tho it may - she was very scared about her reception, because of all the changes.

Ooh, yes. And you're close enough to do that! How lovely.
Partner's wife that I was talking to went for a long country walk last week - 25 miles! She's not in training for anything, just wanted to do it. Such is life when you have small, steady investments behind you, and you're prepared to do lots of stuff cheaply, while spending on the stuff that matters (in this case, walking shoes!).
I got back here and just slobbed, didn't do anything at all - in fact, I watched an afternoon movie, when I should've been doing paperwork, which I'll have to do this [strike]afternoon[/strike] evening some time.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Bah! Just lost a post.
Anyway the gist of it was the same as others said about the meditation, I was on holiday a few years ago and there were a few Buddhists there who took turns in teaching, whether or not it was a skill they possessed.
But at least it was something different, and you've learned something from it.
Afternoon movies? Mum used to have some sort of movie channel that showed things that always seemed to have Lindsay Wagner in them and were about a sick child.

I didn't mean to slag the meditation off completely
I certainly feel okay about going again, but between my work, my holiday away, and the dates the courses run, it won't be till mid October
Anyway, I continued slobbing all eveningMy afternoon movie fest was on Channel 5, I think, with Lea Thompson, which was fun to see a middle aged woman playing action hero-ish :j I re-tuned my tv last week with the signal booster *on*, not off, and gained about 150% more channels (freeview) than before
:o:o can't think why I didn't do it earlier. One of the ones I gained was 5*, which runs Burn Notice, which I adore. Then last night I realised I could've watched it on the net
ah well.
Anyway, today, its awkward - the paperwork I didn't do, the vacuuming on the stairs that needs to be done, and the walk into town to get the cheapo vinyl (35% off). Then 3.5 hours paid work, finally:D

Morning Karmacat! I've just realised where I've gone wrong in life! My walking boots pinch, I forgot to start any small, steady investments, but I am prepared to do lots of stuff cheaply! Ah well, 1 out of 3 ain't bad I suppose. And we did do alot of 'wave watching', 'taking in the view' and other free stuff last week, and it does so restore the soul, all in all life ain't so bad really. Baby blackbird getting into the tent awning and flapping about was not so soul soothing though!!!! Neither was the 'clearing up'
Have a good day.
