    Oooh cherisong,

what /who are you going to be next ?

    Hi Karma & crew,

glad you had a lovely time with your mum & feel that keeping up with home & estate maintenance is now easily achievable. Sometimes it helps to switch how you view such chores ie thinking "I want to live in a simple easy to maintain environment, therefore I need less stuff, to harness the flow of energy of said stuff & a bit of routine that makes that all manageable".

Hope you've not been washed away, it's been torrential here.

Not agreed that bit yet Lula, I am going to pretend to be a Dr Who girl for a while........... waiting on the magic screwdriver thingummy to confirm all. (sorry I havent watched Dr Who for years and have no idea what I am talking about - also glass of red going down nicely)

KC, with the routine thing, I just remembered I used to have a 2 second rule that I became anal about (no more). I used to put something down and then think.... That would take me 2 seconds to put in the right place now or 2 hours when it is part of the 101 other things that I just put down just for now. I might resurrect that rule.

What is this routine of which you speak?;)
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Well, strangely enough I had one before I got rid of the tv. Now go figure that, no tv and I get even less done than I did before!

*snaps fingers in frustration* And I was blaming the TV. That's another idea gone up the spout then.

Look forward to hearing all about the time travelling cheri, I will be activating my own adventures very soon - glass of rose slipping down nicely here ;).

I abide by the " Never leave a room empty handed" rule & I also try to implement something similar to your 2 second rule. Since the local recycling collections started, I am forever running up & downstairs with bits & pieces & have developed the rule that no recycleable stuff stays in the home overnight. Except for tonight when it's pouring with rain !

That is where I am going wrong! In my last house I didn't have a bin in the kitchen. Everything went straight outside to the bin. Here I have one in the kitchen, a food composter, and a big bin for recycling in the downstairs loo. This is all because the kitchen is at the front of the house and the jungle is at the back of the house. Whereas in the old house my kitchen was at the back/side of the house and the bin was at the side of the house 5 steps from the back door. Simple

The idea for a fortnightly rotation house/garden maintenance - as well as any other stuff that needs doing, has stuck with me. Next week its the garden, so that I can plant as much stuff as possible. For the rest of this week, its a mix, because of ... well, just because :D And that means doing what I planned yesterday, planting the 3 little plants - a scabious (well, I hope its a scabious :o) the rescued geranium, and a groundcover plant taken from a cutting I got from my sister. And in the house, scanning whenever I have a spare 10 minutes, plus vacuuming my bedroom and filling holes between the plasterwork and the woodwork :D:D:D

As well as, you know, living a life :j

    Good question!

    Hi Karma & crew,

    Hiya :j:j:j

glad you had a lovely time with your mum & feel that keeping up with home & estate maintenance is now easily achievable. Thats totally it, Lula, you're right, and its why I want to do it - I do think that ordinary stuff is a lot better done by routine, because then you don't have to waste brain space by thinking about it :p

And I've realised - the last house I had, the one that was too big for me really, it was more expensive than anything any of us had lived in before, and I unconsciously felt I had to stay home a lot so I could "get the use out of it":eek::eek: Nowadays, obviously, I want to be able to use my house, but on one level its also simply a launchpad for me to live my life *outside* the house as well. I know it sounds a bit barmy :o
Hope you've not been washed away, it's been torrential here.

Believe it or not, we had a few dots, and that was it, nothing at all  I had to water the pots last night!

I certainly used to do that in my first house (it had 3 storeys!) and I try to do it here, tho because its smaller, its easier in general. Its a good rule tho :j

I had a bit less work yesterday than I thought, but needed a bit of recuperation time, tho as I say I did scanning and weeding. Today, its 1.5 hours paid work, and the jobs are:
    - d/w on - yes, its bumbling away.
    - w/m on - to be done.
    - paid work.
    - walk into town: bank, sewable velcro, a plastic storage box, charitising if I can find it in the recycling debris :o
    - bound to have some time to do scanning - I'll do this instead of playing computer games :p
    - plant the 3 plants :)
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • It's good that you realized before its too late, there is always a second chance to everything. So don't repeat the mistakes, live your life happily.
  • Yay to planting and gardening

Glad you'll have a bit of a bumbling day

    Don't do too much :)

I'm trying to keep on top of everything, not easy, but I need get a wriggle on, my problem is I think I'll do it in a bit and when I sit down in the evening, I don't move after that.

Great stuff and have a lovely day.....
