Hi Karma just taking time to read your diary I am back , still on the boat
Hope you are okay ? Not seen any postings by Wol I do hope she managed to sell the house and go to Wales?

Cooeee! Sounds like lots going on
.
We found that the membrane stuff was a complete waste of money. It just disintegrated, weeds grew on top of it where the seeds settled. Better to just put some plastic down if you are just putting stones on top.
Love the quote about the simple way of living. I went up in the loft tonight  and down came bags and bags of baby/toddler/childrens clothes. Tomorrow they are going to the Salvation Army where they will no doubt find someone who is in desparate need for them. If we find a bag of "stuff" now it gets sorted, who knew we had so many car phone chargers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Is that the one done by satellite imaging? Where they found some more temples. It was fascinating.
The speaker was asked to go on that programme, "because I had a regional accent and I'm not blonde" (he was a dark haired Scot) and he was very polite, but made it clear that she was also using ground penetrating radar of the sort that the Saqqara project was using, i.e. not satellite imaging at all. More indicative, was the polite phrasing, oops.
you're going great guns on the housework/garden plan and glad to see there are a few of us trying to get organised..that way I don't feel too bad.
hope egyptology was good x:D:D
This morning, what I *have* to do is brush the patio, and bag all the weedings I made this week :rotfl:plus tidy drying washing away, before I'm off to my sister's for a walk with her.Hi Karma just taking time to read your diary I am back , still on the boatHope you are okay ? Hi Bast! How lovely that you're on the boat :jis it canals or rivers? Marina or temporary mooring? Fascinating - an essay on boat living would be very welcome :T
Wol isn't posting very much any more, I don't think. Its also pretty early days for actually having executed the Welsh plan, tho I haven't spoken to her for a couple of weeks, so I'm not sure *right* now
Meantime - an essay, please :T:T:T2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Yep! Not quite enough fun stuff, but the plan is coming along nicely :j

Oh bleep .... I'll use what I've got, but then have a serious rethink - thanks for the feedback

I've coloured in that bit cos I think thats really important - you're so right! All this *stuff* we have, could be really important to somebody who doesn't have anything at all. Its how I can bear to give away my guitar - I love that guitar, I really do, but with the finger arthritis, I'll *never* play it again, so why should I clutter my space/pay for the space to store it? It doesn't make sense. Not being morbid, but being realistic, if I died, no one would want it - its just a cheap first folk-acoustic-guitar bought by a young teenager a long time ago - I've asked around to find a youth group thats not church-related I can give it to, so we'll see.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Anyway, I have some bargainous moments to report yesterday - I finally got to the Habitat nearest to me, and made use of a freebie £5 gift card I got via Martin's newsletter. Its quite sad in a way, but no wonder they're going out of business, for a lot of things even their 50% off price was the normal price in the shops around them. I did get something interesting in the end - a shaped mirror for the 2nd loo - its in the shape of a cloud and a rainbow - I'm not *quite* sure about putting it up, it does seem a bit teenager, possibly - it was £18 reduced to £5.40, anyway, which really *is* bargainous, and of course I got it for 40p cos of the gift card!
Then at Egyptology, there was an exhibition catalogue dating back to 1972 on early Islamic carpets - ever since I was in Turkey in 1990, I've adored handwoven carpets, and this thing was a one-off. I was very aware of all the decluttering I'd done, but I'd never find this one again - 30 colour plates, for £4. I turned out not to have £4 cash on mecos of all the boring ordinary shopping I'd been doing (paracetemol, velcro, blah blah, you know the drill) and when I tipped out my purse and could only find £2.50 without the shrapnel, the bloke on the stall sold it to me for £2.50 :T:T:T lovely man.
And I'd taken lunch along, so only spent on a cup of tea, and I walked everywhere and didn't pay for a plusbus extension of the rail journey - so I was a very happy bunny
Today - as I mentioned, its just sweeping the weedings off the patio, and tidying downstairs. Might do 10 mins scanning if I have to wait for the right time to leave the house to catch a bus. Or I might catch up with a few more people on here2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning KC,
sounds as though you had a lovely day yesterday
Hope today is equally enjoyable for you, although in a different way of course
xx0 -
What a lovely day. Do you have any plans to *do* anything with the catalogue? I have a lovely old book of Pears Soaps adverts and it was just sitting in the loft. I recently decided that I will take some of the images out and frame them up. They wont *go* in this house as its too modern but maybe in my next. It seems a shame for them to be tucked away. I also have a lovely book on Mexico that was a present. I keep it on my coffee table now and look at it often. When it was on the shelf I never read it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

I have maybe half a dozen books on carpets now, mostly the nomadic kind made on small looms that were dismantled and could be carried or dragged by a camel .... for now, no, I wouldn't do anything with it - I have so many beautiful images that I could put up on my walls if I repaired my frames - there's a handprinted image of a sheep looking at a shooting star, a tiny thing about four inches to a side .... lovely
Anyway, yes, yesterday was great - I also forgot, before I went out I checked what price dried soybeans are sold at - £1.29 in Tesco, not even sold in Sainsbo. So I went to the big health food store that has its own imports, and bought organic soybeans for £1.11I like that
Today was too ... I tidied up, picked up some dandelion leaves and grass and seeds for a little rabbit ill with fly strike (seen by the vet, don't worry!) and scooted off - we were going to have a walk out, but ended up chatting with adult offspring and partner. The partner is the one who showed me how to set facebook not to show I'm onlineso I like her lots :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: and then, good heavens, the amount of *stuff* that was taken to the tip was tremendous - she got rid of loads, including a load of slate chips she doesn't want that I've now inherited
and I got rid of loads more, including dirty pillows, lots and lots and LOTS of branches, a blind, a few pieces of timber, four bags of grass cuttings, an old carpet sweeper, one of the drawers I brought plants here in - it looked overwhelming in the garden, but in the back of a car, it didn't look like anything
And I just picked a few blackberries too, just before it got darkso now, ta-da, I'm going to finish the 187ml bottle of cabernet :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:its one medium glass, I think
I'm such a lightweight with alcohol

Yes thanks! He had 3 days at the vet, he's got another checkup tomorrow, they're really pleased with him! He's put in his run for a couple of hours each day, and he still has to be fed, but he's chewing madly on his towel and his cushion, and enjoying being stroked, so he's definitely getting better, thank you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
