I felt brave today wore a tunic top that I normally wear over trousers with thick tights and boots and had lots of compliments so that was nice - it is short for me though (although not really short) this clothes business is fun but quite complicated life used to be so much easier (but also so much more boring) when I had one type of trousers in every colour available with either t shirt or sweatshirt depending on the weather

Good for you, DT! I like that look with the thick tights, when I can squeeze the budget for them, I'll get some too.
Evening was lovely - I wore a pure white top, a silver belt I'd never ever worn, the M&S turquoise embroidered skirt, a Principles jacket and my black mid-calf boots. Everything but the boots was from a charity shop
but it was all tip top stuff
and I even hung it up when I got home last night
Finding more stuff to get rid of! The pasta maker I got from freecycle and never used, I passed it on to an acquaintance from the birthday tea of a week ago. Another silver belt which is about a foot too big for me :rotfl: About 20 SFX magazines to stick on ebay or amazon, whichever will have them - and an autographed copy of a football programme, couple of actors from The Bill signed it, at the end of the 90s.... two dress forks, as well.
Still undecided about a cake fork and knife set - they're really lovely. Will I use them? Maybe - the cutlery drawer has room for them, so I'll keep them for now.
I was going to just stay home today, but I think I'll go off and have a little adventure this afternoon, taking advantage of all the direct rail lines I now have access to

What is this 'skirt' of which you speak? I haven't worn skirts for years, strange really as I'm told I have good legs, but its the faff of working out what shoes to wear. I can't do the thick tights and boots thing, as I can't walk in knee high boots and I have an idea in my head that ankle boots are to be worn with jeans!Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I know, I'm amazed with myself! But it was really comfy - I've been very picky about the ones I buy, even tho they're from a charity shop. As for the thick tights and boots thing, people round here certainly wear them with flatties .... knee high or ankle length? I don't know.... I'm going to make notes when I go out this afternoon

Ooh cross posted.
Yippee to adventures, sounds so much better than 'I'm going to go out and see where I get to'Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Its Cheery Daffs that did the whole adventures thing. No, it was Pippi! One of them, anyway

EDIT - hmmm, just been checking on how to clean EPNS cutlery - silver paste! I'm sure I have some, as I bought some ages ago to clean the solid silver ornaments from my uncle's silver mine in Zimbabwe .... but its going to be a blue moon before I use them regularly. I wonder if I'd better just say goodbye now ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Nope, not going to say goodbye to the pretty little cake knives and forks .... I like them, they don't take up much room - and wow, I went to a tourist town nearby for a little potter about (too tired for more of an adventure than that
) and they're really quite expensive. If they were lumpy, I'd have a rethink, but so it goes.
Walkabout was nice - hopped into Waitrose as well - they have their own brand of antibacterial honey, which is 30% cheaper than manuka
and being Waitrose, you *know* its not a scam.
We had rain last night! Proper rain - not a shower, not a deluge, so I'm very happy, and I think my plants are too. I'll get 30 minutes out there at lunchtime, I think, try to do something.
An hour or so of paid work this afternoon, so today is:
- 30m at lunchtime in the garden.
- 1.5 hours paid work.
- this morning, waiting for/following up on a phone call that should have come from the double glazing people before 8am, sigh .....
- and, ta-da - making a plan for the next month *before* it starts, May caught me a little unawares - I never expected 30 April to be followed by 1 May, you know how it goes

Hi KC the cake knives and forks sounds nice, if things give you pleasure when you look at them they are 'paying their way'. In the hotel they use small knives and forks with anti-pasta and things like that rather than normal sized ones, sometimes they do put cake forks out to use, I know that you avoid the gluten so probably not so many cakes, so maybe another way to use them.
With so much cycling here, last autumn it was practically a uniform nearly everyone (OK women) wore thick tights or leggings with ankle boots or Ugg type boots and tunic length tops. I've had a few attempts at that look, but one attempt the top was clingy and a fine jersey effect fabric combined with light weight leggings and I just didn't have the confidence to carry it off at that point - OH loved it actually and said it looked nice. It wasn't revealing in any sense other than the fabric hugged, i.e. only head/neck/hands were uncovered. Other attempts were far more successful and some of my favorite autumn/winter outfits now. So a few attempts may be needed to find a look you like and are happy with. Oh with leggings kitten heel shoes looked OK too I think, and give it a less wintery look for slightly warmer days.
DT well done on your tunic and tights outfit
Sounds like we've been doing similar experiments

Helloooo... is there any news on sorting the double glazing step thingy, did I miss it?
Like the outfit talk.. I have always been a skirt girl and struggle to find trousers that I like/ fit properly (small waist, big hips, short legs!). Still avoid trousers for work unless it's really cold but have really got into capri-length combat trouser type things for walking/ gardening, and denim shorts with leggings underneath and a long top for going out shopping and stuff (have just lived in variations of this over the weekend apart from for one posh dinner
).. got some lovely black flowery shorts in Primark yesterday too! Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Have just finished doing the meal plan for this week & a quick check of the budget for this month!
We've managed not to put anything but lawyer fees & the MOT on the credit cards for the last two months & are making the bills fit the income IYSWIM. It's quite tight at times but we have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies & petrol in the car!
