  • Good news/bad news.

Good news: hubbys car passed its MOT
I took last night left overs to have for lunch
    No money spent on food/drink
No alcohol to be consumed tonight

Bad news: hubbys car cost £242, MOT and service - garage thinks the starter motor may be going and it will need new brake discs within a couple of months.

Even worse news: hubby gleefully informed me he had researched how much insurance would cost on a new kia sportage (cost to purchase car 26K). The insurance was significantly less than he currently pays for his silly astra...however I think the initial outlay may well over shadow this:rotfl:

I feel torn, I know he wouldn't just go out and buy one, mainly because I have last say in most things in this house:rotfl:. However his car has cost us a small fortune this year, I know he would proabably keep the Kia for at least 7 years (as the warrenty is that long), it would be useful in the winter, does a reasonable amount of MPG considering the size, would be great for the dog...oh crap I sound like i'm talking myself into it!!

Have been chasing up a topcashback claim for months for hubbies car insurance (irony there!) today they 'offered' a settlement of £43...bizzare, never had this with TCB before, but as it was for the full amount expected I accepted it o his behalf:rotfl:

  • Well so far tonight we haven't had a 'car talk', I take this as a good sign!

I spent 79p on a greggs cheese and onion pasty for lunch:eek:

No alcohol again tonight, just brewed a huge mug of tea:A

Did a mystery shop (phone call) netting me £6, took blooming ages though!

Also did two postal mystery shops, another £3 for the pot:D

Finished doing the paper work for my 2010/2011 tax bill, just need to fill in the actual tax return now. I made a wopping £124.91 profit:rotfl:. Think I managed all the allowable deductions!

Off to slurp tea and eat another piece of mummy yummy cake.

  • Well who would have thought it, I failed the grocery challenge before the alcohol one! Went to Sainsburys, had a £6 off a £30 spend...the rest is history!

I did however get a great deal on some Ariel (sp) stain remover, thanks to the grabbit board...there is a £2 coupon on supersavvyme for £2 off, sainsburys have it on offer for £2.27, so I got 6 bottles for 27p each:p:p

Am currently enjoying a well deserved glass of Cava!

    This one certainly will be!

Been good again today, not spent any money, didn't even buy a newspaper. I have had a freezer sort out, found chicken, chicken, chicken, chicken a few bits of beef and more chicken!

Had pasta with chicken and a home made tomato sauce (thanks to cha and her followers!) Had 4 large toms in fridge that really had seen better days, boiled them up with jalapenos, garlic and a load of herbs....was quite tasty and hubby was impressed! Cooked up a beef joint, hubby had a roast dinner (tea!) and there is enough left for sandwiches for a few days.

So any easy recipes that involve chicken??

    So weekly round up -
    Failed the shopping task!:o
Passed the alcohol task (who would have thought!):p
More exercise done - dog very happy!:rotfl:

Onwards and upwards to week two!

  • As well as cheap a very healthy sauce.

I used to do a stuffed chicken breast with spring onions and pineapple inside. I haven't done it in ages though. I don't think it was healthy as you took the juice, and added sugar, heated it till it made a syrup.

Otherwise, chicken and chorizo stew, chicken and bacon pasta, chicken in white sauce with pasta.
