*Subscribed* Happy new debt free diary!
Just thought I'd let you all know my Itunes was hacked last week and it had my bank card stored on it. They tried 18 x £10 identical transactions one after the other (poss got past verified by visa too) they got 11 before the bank fraud team stopped my card.
Please please, if you have your card details stored on your itunes, log into your account and change it to "none". They got through my email and password

Its weird but last week a friend was asked by Apple to put a deposit down for £150 against a warranty return on a Nano, when they put the card through his bank rejected the payment - when he rang them they said that they will reject any payment with Apple especially a high amount as there are so many false payments at the moment. (I told him that the £150 was out of order and not to even try and pay it )
My branch has also had a number of people tell them they have been hit by an Itunes hack.0 -

Two days till payday...
PAD/Spends - £10
Current account - -£125.25 (Repayment of work expenses)
Groceries - £2.06
Entertainment - £41.44
ISA Savings - £283.20
VSP - £89.84
I'm in Leeds at the moment and about to get ready for work then take full advantage of the hotel breakfast. We're having a team lunch too so no spending there! I'm on a late train home though so not back in civilisation until after nine tonight
Budgetwise things aren't looking too bad. There has been the obvious issue in terms of buying an ipod, but excluding that I've been doing pretty well.
Roll on Le Weekend - payday and a trip to the Frozen North

Morning all!
Money is looking the same as yesterday except I have taken my £10 from my Spends account and put it into the overdrawn account, so I'm only repaying £115 from my wages which isn't too bad.
I spent money in Asda last night, but mainly on bargains (Although Mr Fresian must have made the most expensive bacon sandwich of all time as he bought bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo and bread for them!!) apart from bacon sandwich ingredients. We have got enough catfood to last another month which is good, as we have enough cat litter and cat biscuits too. Hopefully that will make February a month of grocery savings for the inevitable budget-busting in March when I have to replace all of that!!
I found out the other day that far from being one of those lucky people who overpaid tax and got a cheque, I have underpaid (BAH!) and now have about £500 extra tax to pay. I think that HMRC failed to process my staff mortgage details quickly enough or something like that. I'm thinking about coming off my mortgage rate anyway as although it's ridiculously cheap (Base rate of 0.5%) it will obviously track upwards when rates rise. I'm looking to see where I can get a good 5 year fixed rate. When I took it out my rate was 5.5% and because my mortgage is so low that was only about £380 per month, so anything around the £300 mark will be fine - it's currently an insanely low £218. At one point, my unsecured debts were more expensive
No other MSE news really. I'm just knackered at the moment thanks to the recent trip to Leeds and looking forward to tomorrow - half day then off to the Highlands

The other idea to consider on the mortgage front would be to overpay to the level you can while it IS so cheap - if the deal you are on will let you of course. Your mortgage is so low in any case that an overpayment up to, so the £300 a month you talked about, would make a massive impact to the term. Alternatively, when you change deal, why not give consideration to shortening the remaining term at that stage?
Made me smile about the cat food/litter etc spends - when I buy fod in particular it's usually on a 3 for 2 offer, so I enter it into my grocery spreadsheet spread over the three months I know it will last, so as to reduce the "feast & famine" effect on the budget! (I do that with other things bought on special offer in bulk too - currently there is coffee & salmon at the top of my list for next month!)
