Dizzy - I've no experience of fluoxetine so can't really comment, but I definitely agree that talking needs to be done in conjunction with any medication. There are hundreds of different medications available these days so it would be worth your OH going to discuss with his GP the issues that he's had on what he's tried so far and maybe get something else

Re: Fluoxetine, I've taken fluoxetine in the past along with counselling and have to say that it worked for me! So much so that I went on to study and am now a counsellor myself! Even now, my life is not plain sailing and there always seems to be something going on but I look at it very differently and challenge my way of thinking. I now know that no matter what happens, I will always be ok.
As mentioned before, anti-depressants aren't really the answer alone but certainly help to balance us out while we seek support with the difficulties that we are experiencing.
