Can I stay off without needing a doctors note though? I'm just wondering with it being half term next week.

Doesn't sound like you are 'fit for work' Twinklie - my advice for what its worth is take a few days and rest your voice.

I had a look online and there is this advice about self certification, sick/fit notes etc - not sure if I'm much wiser having read it through  Maybe ring or email school secretary to ask if they have their own self-cert forms??

I've emailed the woman at work to ask...

I've also updated all my figures in my signature and so that's all upto date with the exception of one credit card that DH has the details for so I'm not sure about. I keep meaning to get it off him and then not doing it.

I'm off work tomorrow so hoping to have a productive day. If I'm off on Friday I'm planning on watching movies all day. If I'm in...thats my plan for Monday of the following week. :rotfl:

You can fill out a self-cert when you go back to work, as long as you have told them you are sick you don't need to do it now. You can self-certify the first seven days so if you are off before and after the holiday they are likely to count it as a continuous absence and so you would need a Dr's note from the 8th day after you last went to work IYSWIM (so this could be a day during the holidays).

Your manager should be able to advise on any other questions about what the school need and when.

Disclaimer - I work in industry not schools, so this is the way the law works in the UK.

I would be shocked if I was off after half term...although the tiny voice I had has disappeared again!! Doh!

You can self certify for a week and in fact you won't get a doc's note for the first week.

If you are still bad towards the end of half term, you will need to see a doc and get signed off for the week after half term. If you are better by, say, Weds in half term, you could ring in and say you are better...noone will be interested/pleased but not interested...or just tell whoever does absence that you were better on x day.

Coolio! Thanks for the help guys. I feel much more relaxed now. Looks like I may have finished for half term then!! My voice has gone again by the way because I spoke to a man at the door!!

I'm going to tick things off my list tomorrow like year 9 reports, ITT students forms I need to fill out. Perhaps plan some lessons for after half term to make my life easier...OR I'll clean round the house. Something to make me feel useful anyway.

Right so wash is done and hung out. I've been emailing back and forth with people at school...I'm defo done for half term. My voice just ain't up to it. Anyhoo, I'm on with the ITT student forms and then will email in my cover for tomorrow. After that year 9 reports and perhaps clean the kitchen and strub the yard.

I'm still in my pj's and so have been an awful mummy and not taken Belle out for a walk yet. She was so good to me this morning. Woke me up at 7.20 am to be let out...then went back to bed. She stayed there till I came down at 10.50 am. I was up (been up most of the night coughing) but decided to lay in bed and just chill out a bit. She deserves a good walk...I'll see if I can get the motivation up for a big on later...I'll feel guilty if she only gets a little one - not sure if I can be bothered though...I'm so tired (so tired I can't sleep...grrr).

Right time to be productive!! :D

Ok so not quite as productive as I suggested I might be. But I have done the ITT forms and sorted my cover. I've done quite a bit of faffing as well to be honest. Ho hum! LOL. I'm trying. :)
