Just been updating my cash flow chart...and looking at the banks etc. DH has been using his own CC for buying rubbish hence CC number 4!!! Grrr.
However, it would appear he's been given a tax rebate we know nothing about because HMRC have put something into his account!! Shame it's not bigger though.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Question: Where is the best place to sell books? I've got quite a few I could sell...but I normally do it on ebay. But I'm just wondering if I'm missing a trick in earning more anywhere else!! I've not done it for ages to be honest.
They aren't specialist books or anything, a few Jodie Picoult, The Millenium Trilogy - The Girl ith a Dragon Tatoo etc.
I just don't have the space for them so need to get rid.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I've posted it on a different forum but as I know lots of you are in the know I'll ask here too....
In 2009 we decided to switch insurance providers for buildings and contents away from our mortgage provider who was costing us a fortune - to one that cost us half as much but provided the same cover.
Anyway, at the same time we upped our payments to the mortgage so that we were OPing and asked for the money currently used as insurance payments to get transferred to this as well - since the insurance had been cancelled.
We got a letter saying they'd upped our mortgage payment and the direct debt we asked them to take out would now also include the insurance payment. We called them and explained we wanted the full ammount of the mortgage and to CANCEL the insurance!!! We were told this was sorted.
When we got our mortgage statement this year we discovered that the insurance is still on it!! So we called them to ask what was going on. They said they would cancel it straight away!!
Last week we received a letter stating we owed the £530 for the insurance!! And they included a photocopy of a letter from Oct 2009 letter saying the direct debt had been cancelled and that if we didn't reinstate it we would not be paying the insurance. This is fine...but we never received this letter and they have never said anything about it until now.
We are going in tomorrow to try and sort it out. We've never made a claim on this insurance by the way. We are also coming to the end of our fixed rate deal in October with them and so I'm wondering when to get away from Britannia - the earliest opportunity would be beneficial!!!
Any advice on how to deal with this matter would be greatly appreciated. If you need anymore info in order to help please ask. Many thanks for this in advance.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Michelle would be a good person to ask about the books, I believe she sells on amazon.
re the insurance, I'd take your insurance schedule from the other company to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that you absolutely did not wish to continue receiving insurance cover from the mortgage provider. don't know if it will count in your favour but it definitely won't hurtknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Feeling like a happy bunny today! Finally convinced DH to look at mortgages with me...we have found a FD one. :j
Also talked about the future. DH finishes his PhD in 18 months and so within the next 2 years we will find him a new job, relocate to where ever and then start a family in a nice big family home! By big...I mean bigger than the small terraced house we are in now!He wants to crack on with the baby making ASAP! Doesn't want to still be fathering kids at 50...he's 42 this year so wants to get going.
Its perfect timing for this conversation because my clock has started ticking and just knowing he is on the same page as me has chilled me out immensely. I realise we won't know if we can even have kids until we start trying, but just getting to that stage would be nice...if not terrifying.
I've just submitted my first 3 assignments for Edigi and then have another 4 calls to make in the morning and then will submit another 4!Go me... :j

I have sold books on amazon, but more niche ones like parenting books, teaching textbooks. Bog standard paperbacks there tend to be too many of the same ones on there so you can't really make a profit.
A lot of people highly rate green metropolis, but i have never tried over there. Worth having a squizz on the up your income board? You might get a more definitive answer from someone in the know.
Funny thinking you will be starting babies just as courgette and Earthy have kids that are toddlers, and mine will both be at big school by then. I guess a lot of motivation to keep overpaying now then to live the dream later.0 -
What I would do for the books (as it is what I do) is type the barcode into Amazon and look at the price they are going for.
Then look at how big they are and think about postage.
I won't list a book on Amazon if it is selling for under £2 unless it is very thin and light (I have a higher threshold for a textbook as they are heavier to post).
I have generally sold old textbooks and some hobby books, no general fiction as most of it sells for 1p plus postage! Have a look as it will only take you 5 mins.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
