Aren't teachers great procrastinaters?
Yes...its the boredom that has drove me to it though.....!! I envy your life.....I would so love to just be at home pottering around....(procrastinating again!);)0 -
I will be in Michelle's situation for a year come next Friday. It has it's own stresses though, they are not to be underestimated.
And we are the Queens of procrastination! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
It's not all roses, IHateDida, but i do like having a bit of a life again. I'll never be master of my own destiny till the kids are fully grown. Until then, there is some freedom but i agree with Grateful, some stresses. Mainly money, as DH brings home now what i did about 4 years ago, and i was earning the same for 3 days work as he did 5.
Paying the mortgage down to 1/3 of what we paid for our house has given us flexibility. I am glad i am so old before my time and had been so careful while i could to cover the leaner times now.0 -
It turns out you have the most fashionable approach of all, Michelle. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

fashionable? Who me? Never been called that before. :rotfl:
I'm certainly living in a way that makes some people envious, though if they gave up the holidays, posh clothes, 2 newish cars compared to our 10 year old ones, then they could have it too.
I would say we are more sensible and mostly satisfied with our lot. DH is very happy for me to stay at home and be a homemaker, and i am happy to see him go off to work. Who knows what the future holds, but i would rather set up my own business in the future rather than go back to the complete stress of working for someone else. Unless i change my mind and become a manual worker. My happiest jobs were my student ones - bar and fish and chip shop. I had the best laugh and was in fine physical shape from all the labour. Shelf stacking also appeals. Nice, repetitive, allowing my mind to be wandering and then my free time is my own.0 -

Its different when you have to work to live isn't it - whereas student jobs paid for fun times (instead of the mortgage notably!) - I loved my Saturday job in a newsagents! I keep telling my OH that I want to spend my days doing lunch at his expense (we have no children) but he doesn't seem to like that idea.....!
So until the mortgage is paid (a loooong time  !) I guess I will have to suffer from coursework-itis a little longer!!!:rotfl:(then its shelf stacking all the way into retirement!!)0 -
Right ladies, thought I'd update you...things at school have changed AGAIN. And now I don't have to teach that awful class or BTEC! Yey. Well not until September anyway.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%
