I'm being dumb and un-techie but how do you get the actual smiley images from the site to show in an email? I copied and pasted the URL link onto an email but it just had the link, not the image. What am I doing wrong?

You have to copy the whole [IMG link and then it should show up alright.

It says to use the URL link for an email so that's why I tried that one first but I also tried the other two options but they didn't work either! I had a great email idea but it needs to have those smileys :(

What do you use for emails? I use H0tmail, and have discovered I can't insert smileys (other than those they supply)

Annoys the heck out of me, as I often can't find what I need amongst theirs

??? has anyone ever bought glasses off the internet???

i've had my eyes checked and i do indeed need new glasses. i've been round the ususal suspects like specsavers but can't see anything i like let alone anything i'd want to spend lots of money on! i've read Martin's articles on buying online and wondered if anyone here's done it?
i saw a lovely pair of designer specs in an independent shop, 110quid (more than i've ever paid but they were Perfect); the lady had me reaching for my prescription then told me the lenses and anti-reflection coating were extra!!!! needless to say i left! i've found them online at select specs for 85.00 all in... But that's still more than specsavers cheapies, but i really like them! argh!!!!!!
I used selectspecs online and had no problems x

  • Well, I seem to be doing pretty well so far. I haven't had chance to update my sig yet as I am still waiting for the oil bill (first delivery in this house) and the water bill so I can do an accurate estimate. I can't quite believe how much we used to fritter away needlessly.
    In the canteen today is;
    Baked Pots
    Tinned Mince courtesy of AP
    Tons of veg
Raisins biscuits from the cheap family meal website (which I read about on one of these boards.

My frugal thrill of yesterday was getting a small patch of denium from a friend. On my jeans (fairly newish) one of the belts loops had ripped, so now I can repair them and have plenty more use out of them.:j

I have been turning my thoughts toward the garden for the past few days dreaming about what I'm going to grow this summer to feed the family.

Oh and we found a 2p yesterday on the school run:T When you equate 2p found every day on average per annum & that would pay for a trip to the flicks it is not such a bad past time to have:rotfl:

No worries, trying to spread the word as it is cheap as chips. I really like the Jai Kudo frames too. The ones I wanted were £179 in Vision Express plus £350 for the lenses. I'm fairly short sighted (-8.5 in both eyes) and normal lenses look like milk bottle tops so I need to get them thinned. Shameless vanity!

i wouldnt say it's vanity! i didnt wear glass till i was 21, so they're not totally 'part of me' IYSWIM. you have to be comfortable. dancing1.gif

i'll go to asda either tomorow or Tuesday (tuesday would mean little extra fuel used), and if they dont have Jai Kudo i'll possibly get the same from select specs or even a quite nice 20quid pair.

~ thanks everyone for your advice! i usually just get specs@vers ( 2 for 70 or whatever, but i really dont need 2, and want to like wearing them as i'm needing to more and more.reading.gif

  • YOUNG MUMMY- your motivation is infectious! well done on managing to save so much and paying off your catalogue. :j

I've decided to save on petrol today (i use nearly 60 a week as my job involves community work ) was going to go to a toddler group that i would need to drive to and would cost me 2.50 entry, however the frugal part of me has took over :p and i am now going to the toddler group 50 yards from my house which only costs 50p, saving me around 4-5 quid with petrol and entry fee :A

    Have a frugal day all
  • The smileys are herefunny.gif There are just hundreds of them, all free. I got the link from another thread.

this is a really good website thanks too much to choose from - will need to have a think :rotfl:

    Evening all :D

I like the idea of signing up for my local library. I love reading and have far too many books in the house - four 'Billy' bookcases and one six foot bookcase all jammed full of books :o It's only ten minutes for me to walk to the library too so I really will have to look into their opening hours.
Did anyone see this article? Made me laugh!

I use the library a lot otherwise I would have a room full of books !!

also the article gave me a smile - thanks :T

today should be a NSD here

    welcome fruittea to the forum:hello:

have a good frugal day everyone :rotfl:

Thanks :T - I am now signed up to that as well, plus the one Erme mentioned. I'll play around and see which suits me best. :)

Yeah seems about right...they're mostly all the same vein like has already been discussed. Just some have premium thingies and some have more UK/european food stuffs on their databases than others. I think when I did SP I only followed the menu plans for like the first week then did my own thing :)

Basically in a nutshell you need to gen up on something called BB code (google for basic instructions) then you will be 'untechie' no longer...this is what the board is in...there are icons for the WYSIWYG editor (the one with the hill is the one for smileys/images) but on the particular smiley site mentioned you need to cut and paste the code next to the smiley with the words (doesn't have to be in caps) before hand....Just remember to finish the link with - same for links etc ( and)....but to perfect it you really need to google some bb code guides (there's plenty) and play...don't worry if you make a muck up once or twice...we were all learners once and sometimes it's not cos you've put the wrong code in but a prob with the link itself...

... I'm out of breath. Just done a mad dash through the posts to catch up :D I daren't skip them as there are so many useful tips.

A NSD yesterday and hopefully will be one today. OH made potato wedges and a dip to go with dinner last night. It was lovely to come home to something unexpected and they were very tasty. Normally it would be mash or boiled potatoes. (Which is nice but it was lovely to have a surprise). He is very on board with the challenge and we can see the benefits. He went online to look for recipes and is now getting quite interested in trying new things. Food is stretching a long way and the next shop on Thursday should be quite low.

I'm debating making up a notebook to put all the frugal ideas in. I saw something sometime ago on the Martha Stewart web site on using scrap paper (printed on one side) stapled together with a card cover. I might try that.

I love the martha stewart site for craft ideas :D......have you a link for this one hun? Or a name for it so I can google it on MS site....ta muchly
