Me tooI'm over budget as well Marru but I think its given me a more realistic idea of how much I want my budget to be for a family of 5 grown ups and a little doggie
Had a good sleep thanks Nuala hope you did and that you're ok today
You too Rubytuesday after our strange day yesterday
Lots of yummy recipes and talk of food on here. I often visit this site if I want something simplistic but wholesome. They're vegan recipes with lovely photos. I've tried a few of them and can highly recommend the chestnut puffs in the Christmas section! Also the sweetcorn fritters in the breakfast section. There's no talk of trying to convert anyone just lovely pics and recipes...:) Here it is:-

I have done some reaserch and found out that the local college has a hair / beauty salon that have reasonable prices :j:j for example £4.00 for eyebrow wax ( where I used to go cost £8.50 ) so I can save a bit there also a ladies cut and blow dry is £8.00
Traininng colleges can be very good indeed.
I used one when I first moved here, like you found seriously cheap!
However... that was for first year students..... and I soon found out, that unless you wanted to be there for hour plus, for just a trim, it's worth paying that little bit more for a final year student ~ as they're quicker...... :rotfl:
Or, on a cold day....... go for the first year student, and keep warm by their heating! The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open0 -

Was hoping today might have been a NSD day, but found 3 items in a charity shop that could be recycled as gifts, so got them....... on the plus side, picked up 10p off the pavement....... never see anyone else picking up money, if annyone on the forum does, do you feel like everyone is staring at you if you do pick up what you've spotted?!The mind is like a parachute. Evening fellow frugallers:j
Been missing in action for a couple of days but haven't been on a spending spree honest guv [except perhaps for the buns I treated all my chums to today at work but that comes out of the need category:D]
Jumble sale was fab- picked up a per uno skirt for 20p and a pretty scarf. Also managed to find a new salt grinder as ours no longer working and was too frugal [or gnat bottomed:D] to replace it previously. I'm having a go at making some slippers out of felted wool next week soon and found two jumpers which will fit the bill perfectly.
Had a lovely frugal surprise today- a fellow freecycler has dropped off a jar of hm marmalade as a thankyou for a couple of small bits I've given her:j

You know what they say midwinter "find a penny pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck" though some say it's 'find a pin'
Aril what a bargain on the skirt....20p! Per Una is a lovely make as well.

Laushappy : thanks for the advice on eating for depression I think i'm going to start keeping a food diary do you have any advice for those of us trying to cut down on caffine!! - I know exactly what you mean by it being addictive ( the tread and being frugal )
today was a spend day for me which is fine and expected
I hope everyone is ok - have a good frugal day tomorrow everyone:j
Caffiene can be extremely addictive, it plays havoc with our energy and blood sugar levels, however giving up can cause withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, mood swings and stomach cramps (not everyone gets all of these)
Its best to reduce your intake gradually to reduce the withdrawal symptoms, set yourself a goal and start having just half a cup each time and then reduce by a cup every few days. Hang in there, if you stick to it then the cravings will eventually disappear, especially if you keep your blood sugar levels even throughout the day.
Good luck!
Ps drink plenty of water throughout to help with the detox effect.0 -

My version is "find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll be a penny richer...."0
