I recently bought a 5 inch newtonian and have been really getting in to a bit of stargazing here in my back garden. i can image in a dark sky site out in the desert would show much more than what i can see in this light polluted mess of a back garden.think I'll have a bit of this0

I am not really in to star gazing but I do remember seeing the night sky over Bryce Canyon away from any light pollution, it was amazing I never knew there was so many stars in the sky
Apparently it is one of the best places to star gaze and you can see up to 7500 stars at any one time
Sorry a bit off topic I know0 -
MarchI know I've said it before a number of times but the highlight of our Grand Canyon trip was the stars at the Canyon the night we stayed there...the Canyon itself was nice to see in person, but it's the stars I remember the most, so I do reckon the stargazing trip would be very cool...struggling to convince the hubby though...he doesn't appreciate the s'mores aspect either...tsk.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Did the ranger led star watching session at Bryce Canyon a few years ago, and on a different trip, the moonlit walk into the canyon ...... and without doubt, if you want to see the stars, make sure you arrange the trip close to a new moon.0 -
MayIt's very quiet on this thread. Is everyone out Xmas shopping?
This is a good show for the money if you like Bee Gees music $22 plus fees although I wasn't charged the fee when I bought them last year.

MarchI've still got my white flairs!!! don't know if they'd still fit?
BA sale info out there, just checked a booking for end of March, £640 on BA and £545 on VA. That's a no then. See what VA do in the New Year, don't think I can wait until my planned November trip.0 -
January / FebruaryTrip 4 in 6 weeks time. One of the lads is interested in driving a Ferrari. Anyone know of a good place or cost of this? Thanks in advance.0

Just going over next week's trip and thinking about adding another night somewhere on way back from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas (already staying one night at Grand Canyon) but we don't fancy doing the 5 hour drive back to Vegas in one hit.
Can anybody recommend somewhere to stay about 2-3 hours from Grand Canyon on way back to Vegas please?0 -
