We like hitting a lot of off-strip casinos each trip...it's something different though we haven't necessarily had better luck at them really. We have been meaning to check out Palace Station for years and just never have.

If you do go, I would avoid the buffet its one of the worst we have ever had

My favourite off strip casinos, actually I prefer them to the strip itself.

TheM just a class location, buffet, cafe, Baby cakes, sportsbook and adjacent food bar, very very pleasant waitresses.
Silverton, had a couple of days there last trip after a not very pleasing stay in Harrahs, Starbucks, Johnny Rockets and the cafe, big plus free wifi on the casino floor.
Southpoint, not managed steak and shakes yet, did manage a shake though. $1 hot dogs on game days.
RedRock, nicely appointed, decent spread of games in the poker room, Fatburger.
Orleans just about off strip in my opinion, one of the best for smaller stakes cash games.
Golden Nugget, best of downtown imho, Vic and Anthonys steaks just brilliant, 24 hr Starbucks and the waitresses will fetch you one (you have to pay for it), decent rooms.

The thing I felt they all had in common was the relaxed atmosphere and sense of space.

Quick visit locations are Railroad pass, Jerrys Nugget, Hacienda.

worst for me Palace station, feet sticking carpet, smell from the oyster bar too much and pervasive.

    Thats a huge question
aye, I thought it was a bit different to the virgin flights are bad / how to get to the grand canyon / what is restaurant.com questions that tend to pop up on here (that wasn't a dig at anyone, but appreciate it comes across that way! :D )

Thanks for your responses guys and by all means keep 'em coming :)

If I am not mistaken, Baby Cakes is where my lovely gelatto was from!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Yep indeed

Even if I'm not allowed to eat it's one of those places that I still have to go in for a look, I think it just has the edge over the gelatto bar in the Aria.

Favourite Downtown is Golden Nugget. It's worth popping in to look at the sharks in the pool area and the monster Gold Nugget (hand of God???) that they have on display there. The pool area is not the best for sunbathing though. Sardines spring to mind.

Red Rock Station is the nicest off strip. Good food choices, good selection of machines and a lovely pool area. Lots of other amenities here too, and a reasonably sized shopping area across the street.

Agree with you Pebbles, although I was spoiled the last time I stayed there for the females in our group there was a fire fighters challenge on the experience, the Nugget was hosting a keep fit convention, early mornings walking past the pool area will never be the same, not quite call on me but I think the fire fighters hanging out in the Nugget with very fit and trim instructors, posers and divas need not apply. Fair to say my group thought it was the best place in Vegas for eye candy of either sex.
