also for the ladies, or men maybe, hairstraightners as we know them in the UK operate at a different voltage/wattage than in the US so dont work over there unless you have a fancy power converter thing. i'm sure many of you know this but i didnt and cost me $100 dollars over there to find out
in all our trips, the missus has never had any issues with her hair straighteners (believe me, i'd know about it if she did)
I can only guess that - as photome says - yours weren't dual voltage, or whatever its called0 -
MayFlew BA on 1st Nov LGW to Las Vegas.
I take it you meant LHR and not LGW if you flew with BA as it's Virgin that go from LGW?
My original straighteners worked OK. They took longer to heat up and didn't get as hot as at home, but they did work. The dual voltage ones I have now work no problem.
How long did you wait at immigration with being at the back of the plane?0 -

nvh...Re the Mac and cheese, I think some people use evaporated milk as the secret ingredient, I used this recipe and it was very macaroni cheesy but rich. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/stove-top-mac-n-cheese-recipe/index.htmlDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Marchpebbles - good luck on the upgrade and safe trip back - hard to believe you are still there...I remember leaving and thinking 'pebbles arrives today'...and that was ages ago!
Triker - safe trip for you too...and thanks for the mac & cheese recipe...can never have too many of those, I say. I have never tried using evaporated milk but am now on a mission!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
November / DecemberTriker, yes we have been here for 8 weeks. I sort of lost track of who was here when we were or I would have pm'ed you to sort out a meet. I'm ready for home now, just wish I had a tardis or something to get us back a but quicker.0
