MarchThanks duchy, luci, photome for replying to my travel insurance question. DH has booked the insurance so we should be covered (God forbid) if anything happens.
phatome, We will be flying out on 24th. I think we will be staying in NYNY. Not booked it yet but will probably book today. Though will keep on checking other hotel deals from January onwards incase we find a cheaper one for the 4*/5* one.
In the past week or so have done some research on food as both of us are vegetarian so lots of options recommended here are out of bounds. We would want to do couple of nice expensive meals and rest cheap ones so have come up with the list of cheap places that are vegan/ veggie friendly. This is just the initial list and not final in any way but hopefully will help someone especially if you are looking for cheap places. Most of them are near/ on the strip with few in downtown and one or two near Chinatown.
Mint Bistro indian
Tamba Indian
Red Velvet Cafe
Cheesecake factory
Spice market buffet at Planet Hollywood
Paris buffet for breakfast
Rio buffet
Capriotti sub
Chipotle mexican
Garden buffet at main street station downtown

Yo fresco in fashion show mall
Yogurtland near airport
U-swirl
Crepe expectations
Dunkin donuts - Fremont street
Blizz Frozen Yogurt - great reviews

this made me laugh...I'm amazed we have never tried any of the rodizio places in Vegas as any restaurant that keeps bringing your more meat until you tell them to stop is just right up my husband's street.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
JuneThanks for all the info, my 14 year old is a girl, and wants to go to red rock, shopping, site seeing, so shouldn't have a problem keeping her interested. Also a couple of my American friends are joining us for the weekend. I will be hiring a car, and I don't gamble. Not my thing, I get more enjoyment watching other people doing it. A couple of quarters in the slots is as far as I go lol. But thanks again for your thoughts.
How about going up to Freemont Street and having a go at the zipline? Myself and DH went on it and although I'm not a rollercoaster fan, this was such an adrenaline rush. They were saying that they are extending it from on end to the other in December (was about halfway when we went on) so this is our excuse to go back.
Also, on a night you can watch the "Experience" show. Boulder City is nice for a few hours, and is also on the way to Hoover Dam.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

AprilCurrently researching flights as we want to go to Vegas for our honeymoon April 2012. We have been before, but not since last year.
A few options seem to be the cheapest for us, from Edinburgh;
£584pp - Airfrance Edi - Paris, then Delta Paris - Vegas via Detroit
£548pp - KLM Edi - Amsterdam, then Delta Amsterdam - Vegas via Atlanta or Minneapolis
£578pp - United Edinburgh - Vegas via Newark
All options work out between 17.5 - 18 hours.
What are your thoughts of the best airline to go with? We have only ever been with Continental before, Edinburgh to Vegas, via Newark. Which is handy as it's only 1 stopover, but means a 5 hour layover in Newark and they weren't the most comfortable planes. Is Delta any better, and worth the extra stopover?Lucky wins - Rituals Beauty Advent Calendar; Starbucks Coffee & £20 Gift Card; Amazing Hen Weekend at Dunblane Hydro; Heat Magazine Book Bundle; Le Crueset Goodies :j

AprilSorry also forgot to ask opinions re hotels, we are planning on staying 12 nights in April 2012. Is it best to wait to book hotels nearer the time? Or get this booked up now? We hope to stay 6 nights in one hotel then move to the other side of the strip for the last 6 nights.

Many of us will suggest to book a back-up hotel(s) now, on a refundable deal, then keep looking for better deals...that way if something big is announced and hotel rates skyrocket, you have your back-up booked and don't fall victim to the unexpected jump in rates.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Very few offers out so far that go beyond Feb 2012.
There has been the odd one for MGM, but they seem to have cottoned on that they MAY have a big fight the first weekend in May. At first the rates for that weekend were astronomical. Now they are showing No Arrivals for the Saturday.
The fight's not even announced yet.0
