  • Hi everyone

We are going out to Vegas on Monday 12th December and return flight is Tuesday 20th, getting back into LGW on Wednesday 21st. Going Virgin direct from LGW (:o). Hubby is 6 foot 2 and a generally larger chap.....what seating should we be trying to get?? Don't mind paying a little extra but don't want to use all or spending money getting a comfy seat (if only I had read this thread before booking:o).

We are staying at the Bellagio and have tickets for the shuttle bus from the airport included in our Expedia booking. I understand we will paying a 'resort fee', never had to do this before:(

I now have a note book with all the nice eating places as recommended on here and currently trying to get my head around the food gift certificate site....I forget the web address already :rotfl:

We have been to Vegas previously but reading this thread we have certainly not made the most of discounts etc....with the $ v £ being rather pants at the moment we really need to get the most for our money. I remember the days of more than $2 to the £.

    Any advice greatfully received:D

It's a good 3 or 4 years since we did lgw virgin flight, but last time we did we got exit row seats via. twilight checkin. Sure it cost £75 for the two of us (so £30'ish each). Others will be able to advise of the likelihood of all that being the case. Being a similar height I have to say it was well worth the minimal extra cash outlay though the missus (who is just over 5foot) got the door seat which juts into the legroom a bit but she was fine with that. I think the seats may be slightly narrower too as tv is in armrest
  • is the food website restruarant.com? I would say, dont restrict yourself to buying too many restaurant.com vouchers. We bought 4 (one for each night) and didnt use half of them.

if you just want to eat (not go for posh dinner or something special), then breakfasts at Dennys are always cheap and cheerful. Share a "main" breakfast and something smaller and its enough to feed two people.

I also spent $20 on a late lunch buffet at Cosmopolitan and they started to bring out the dinner food for the changeover into dinner time. There is not much difference tbh, the food is all still very very yummy. $20 for lunch and $35 for dinner for the sake of 30 mins (late lunch at 3pm) is a big differnece in dollars.

We gambled late into the night and did the steak offer at New York New York. After midnight you can have a 16oz rib eye steak with jacket potatoe and veg for only $15, they dont mind if you ask for an extra plate, so my bf and i shared a massive juicy steak at midnight. Very yummy too :)

Not sure that's possible since they dropped breakfast and brought in brunch instead...as brunch ends 2-3 hours before dinner starts now. :) But in general I have heard of people doing the late lunch thing and getting the dinner offerings as well...some buffets have started to shut between though.

I would also not load up too much on restaurant.com vouchers - though having a few can be good, and as they no longer expire if subsequent trips are a possibility you won't have lost anything...just be sure to use the discount codes available - don't pay full price for the vouchers...current code (70% off is only good til today - TRAVEL) but another will be along shortly.

  • If I bought 2, say for example Mandalay Bay Resort - Strip Steak - $50 Gift Certificate could they be used at the same time?

Sorry to be such a pain!

I can definitely recommend Mint Indian bistro. We had the $10 lunch buffet the other day and it was lovely. We aren't veggie, but there were a lot of veggie choices at the buffet. Pleasant service too.

Another good Indian lunch buffet is India Palace on Twain/Swenson. They charge a little bit more, but it had some really nice food. The vegetable biriani was great.

No..remember that the goal is not for the restaurant to give you a free meal, the goal is to give you a discount to encourage you to try the restaurant, and maybe you'll come back again without a voucher or tell others who will come without a voucher.

    4. Terms and Conditions for Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates
All Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates are subject to the following additional terms and conditions, as well as any conditions listed under “Special Instructions” on the certificate itself. The “Special Instructions” are listed prior to purchase on the individual Microsites and listing pages. In the event of a conflict between the terms listed in this Section, and a Special Instruction on a Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate, the Special Instruction controls. Please review both these terms and the Special Instructions prior to purchase.

    • Only one (1) Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate may be redeemed per party, per month, per restaurant, even if the party is seated at separate tables and/or receives more than one check.
    • Not valid for taxes, tips, merchandise or prior balances.
    • Cannot be combined with any other restaurant certificates, third party certificates, Restaurant.com eGift Cards, Gift Cards or other coupons.
    • Valid for dine-in only unless otherwise stated.
The redemption of a Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate requires additional consideration paid to the restaurant. Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates have no value without additional consideration. Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates are redeemable in their entirety only and may not be redeemed incrementally. The restaurant (and not Restaurant.com) is responsible for complying with all state and local laws pertaining to the distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages, and sales tax. Any attempted redemption that violates these Terms & Conditions may render the Certificate void.

The restaurant is the holder and issuer of each Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate. As the holder and issuer of the Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate, the restaurant (and not Restaurant.com) is responsible for the final disbursement of this discount. Whether you choose to use the Restaurant-SPecific Gift Certificate after acquiring the right to access it to get a reduction in the price of your meal at the participating restaurant is at your sole discretion.

Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates do not expire.

Just to add to Ferfs post that most rest.com certs will require the same spend as the cert so for a $50 cert you would need to spend $100 and then get the $50 off and then add about $20 tip.

Different t and c for each cert though

try and go for row 25 seats A B or C not only are they the exit row seats but they are also the first people to get off the plane so you wont have a big queue to get through immigration :j.
you will be looking at paying 75 pounds for seats b and c but nothing for seat A as it has the "bulge" from the exit door (its not that bad).
Try and do the twilight check in the night before and get the seats then:)
  • Looking to visit LV for first time next year - happy to go in January if it's a good deal. How does this look? Flying Virgin direct to LV form Manchester (although presume it will be Delta) 12 Jan - 19 Jan at Luxor Hotel (Pyramid Deluxe room) for £800 or £860 for Tower Deluxe. Similar price for MGM Grand. Thanks folks - any other good deals gladly received.
