$100 seems a bit steep as an entry cost, but I would totally go see this if we were in Vegas on 4th December.

You can play one game at a time for $0.50 on the original...the newer one has a lower max bet than the original (but I personally hate the newer one).

And the Whammies one is called Press your Luck - it's based on a US game show from the 80s. :) When we were there in September the free promo play machine at PH was a Press Your Luck game...so you had the chance to throw back your first prize to try for something better if you wanted.

Oh they have a new SITC machine? Might have a look at that next time. That first one wasn't for me, I just didn't like it. Still you have to have a go, 'cos you never know :D
Thanks for telling me the slot was called "Press Your Luck" I was racking my brains trying to think of the correct name.:o It's still a lot of fun though. I did rather well on that, the bonus game where you get the "Whammies" is a good laugh. I love games that have a very entertaining bonus round.

It's called Sex and the City Big Diamonds - a few videos on youtube...I think you can play all 4 games for $1.00 - so 1/2 the price of the original...I just didn't really like it very much - maybe because the games are based on a 3-reel slot? I'm sure others will love it. :)

I'm going to Las Vegas in last week of March and have booked flights through Expedia with my credit card. I have a query on travel insurance though. I have been looking through the quotes for single vs annual worlwide (inc usa and canada) and annual quotes are almost at par with single. Therefore, I've decided to for the annual cover. I'm not sure if I start the annual policy just now or start couple of weeks before travel. If airline/ Expedia go bust before the cover starts will I be covered by the credit card company?

I know it's probably a question for my Credit card provider but just wanted to know people's views of what they do when they book tickets more than 5-6 months in advance. Should I just go ahead and start the cover now?

Yes your card would cover you but Expedia are very very unlikely to go bust ! Can't comment on the airline as you haven't said which one it is :)

As for insurance-calculate how much you would lose if you had to cancel the trip due to accident or illness of yourself or a close family member (likely most of it as it's expedia)-and then take out the insurance now so you;re covered for cancelation.

You really need to take out insurance to start as soon as the travel is booked so that you are covered for cancellation in the event of illness or accident.

There is a topic either here or the insurance board this week from a guy who booked his honeymoon, but asked for the annual insurance to start on 1 August, a week before he was due to go away. He had an accident on 28 July where he broke his leg and lost everything as there was no insurance in place at the time of the accident.

As has been said it is up to you when you start the insurance but if you have an accident/incident next week which stope you going in March and you dont have insurance in place...then tough you have lost it.

Having said that if it is only flights you have booked then you could possibly rearrange them for a "small" fee.

It also seems to me that you are only planning to use the insurance for the one trip so thete would bve no advantage to not getting it now.

ps we will be there last week of March

Checking in Ballys in the morning?

Has anyone checked in to Ballys in the morning 11am ish, we are potentially going to be doing exactly that in March. I have asked our resident expert "Ferf" but she has never checked in in the morning.

I only ask because you cant put an arrival time before 4pm on their booking website (I thought you can at other places). which does suggest that they dont want you arriving early.

I have booked in to many places in the morning and apart from one place (Flamingo) I have always managed to get straight to my room even before 10am at the Orleans.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of Ballys
    thanks

Just got back from a week in Vegas, and had a brilliant time!
We stayed on Fremont Street, at Fitzgeralds, noisy and busy, but a brilliant party atmosphere due to the Fremont Street Experience, and so much more affordable than staying on the strip. Beers were $2, got a shock when we ordered beer on the strip and got charged $7 a go!
Arrived on Halloween, and the Fremont Street Experience was fantastic, the Viva Vision light show was on the go most of the night, and everyone was dressed up in costume.
Flew with Virgin, the flight out was ok, but on the way back we had to put up with their new 'improved' menu. The food was so bad the air hostesses were apologising as they handed it out!
Managed to see Rod Stewart at the Colloseum, and also spent 4 days at the Sema car show, which was our main reason for going. One of the best holidays I've had in years, but I am appreciating the peace and quiet now I'm back home. :)

Just remembered that this last trip, we arrived at Bally's about 2:30 pm on a Tuesday and had to wait about 30 mins for our room to be ready...I think it's always a bit pot luck in terms of specifics on what day and how many spare rooms they have clean, etc...when we move we always try to get a late check-out, but like you, where we have arrived at other hotels early we can normally check in...arrived about 10am once at Caesars once and while the clerk did whine a bit about how early we were, she did find us a room. :) We did have to wait at Encore this last trip as well - which was our 2nd hotel...that was about an hour, hour and a half or so...think we arrived about noon.
