November / DecemberTraincrashing wrote: »Okay, thanks. I would usually drink things like Malibu and coke, or Southern Comfort, or else cocktails. Would I be charged for these? I'd just like to know before I go.
They will be free don't worry. I usually drink either a beer (they do bottles of Heineken now which I'm sure I'd never noticed before my September trip), if it's a cocktail I'll get a mojito, spirits I'll ask for a Grey Goose and 7 up (I specify this rather than just asking for vodka as you'll get the cheap house brand) or a glass of wine (if you're somewhere like Encore or the Wynn the wine is ok and you can be specific rather than asking for red or white. I don't think I'd try wine in some cheaper places tho).
I find if you're going to be gambling for a while it can be best to stick to beers if you're sitting in the same area for some time. The waitresses can come round very quickly depending where you are and if you're drinking cocktails it can be quite lethal! It's hard to refuse a lovely cocktail every 15 minutes when you know you're only paying $1! :beer:0 -
Marchthe downside on the 'free' drinks can be staying in one place longer than you might have if you weren't waiting for your drink to arrive...I think that is part of the reason I can go an entire trip without ordering a single drink from a cocktail waitress...since I play almost exclusively slots and since I am a grazer, I just don't want to commit to being in a particular place for long...too many times having done it and kept playing and lost waaaaay more than the drink would have cost me.
I have no self control really...I can't just sit and wait.
Bellagio has some very nice signature drinks that you can get for free if playing...Bellagio Cocktail and peach Bellini, specifically. Wynn used to do a pineapple mojito, not sure if they still do...Paris used to do this thing called a Lava Flow which was great, but last time we tried to order one they had stopped doing them on the casino floor.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AugustI'm flying out on the 23rd and cant wait (me and 3 mates) driving from Glasgow to Manchester for the flight and going for a week. Looking to get a table at one of the clubs one night and having a few bottles as thought may as well do it Vegas style!!!
Cant wait!0 -
November / DecemberOoo they sound like nice drinks, I never really think about peach flavoured drinks, even though I love peaches. I've never used any machines like these before, are they easy to understand? I've tried watching peoples videos they put up here but I just dont have a clue. I keep hearing about the Alice in wonderland one, and the hangover, and sex and the city, but I don't have any idea at all how I would even play them!0

I am a bit like Ferf when it comes to ordering drinks, as I have found myself staying longer than I wnted just to get the "free" drink and losing money but on the tables rathern than slots.
I dont play slots very often and never ordered a drink while playing for the above reason, but as for playing them..you put your $100:D bill in, press a button and then cash out when you have had enough, you dont get cash out though just a ticket to redeem in a another machine (for cash).
You do have to be careful to only play the amount of lines and the denomonation that you want though
For example you may be able to choose denomonations from 1cent up to a $1 and may be able to play up to 400 lines and anything inbetween.
So if you chose 1c and 400 lines it would cost you $4 a spin on the other hand if you chose 400 lines and $1 it would cost you $400 a spin so be careful. on the above example you could spend as little as 1c a spin and as much as $400, there are numerous combinations of denomonations and and credit amounts..all machines are different0 -

Some of the UK online casino sites have versions of real slot machines they have in Vegas...you could try them (free) to get a feel for them.
Virgin Casino has Davinci Diamonds, Siberian Storm, Cleopatra and Cleopatra II, Wolf Run, Treasures of Troy, Cats, Enchanted Unicorn, White Orchid, Kitty Glitter, Triple Fortune Dragon, Lil Lady, Super Hoot Loot, Texas Tea...all of which are very or reasonbly common in Vegas...you could try them as a bit of practice. And no, I do not know that list from the top of my head I looked at them just now (I am not that obsessive.)
Agree with photome - watch the denomination (many machines allow it to be changed so check what it is set on before hitting any buttons!) Most machines have X number of lines - so like he said, you bet $x * y number of lines...quite a few now just give you credit value options - so may have a button that says 80 credits, 120 credits, 160 credits, 200 credits...etc...so if you are playing a 1 cent machine - it's easy to see what you are playing.
As it happens - Sex and the City and The Hangover are both machines that allow you to play 1, 2, 3 or 4 games...and the buttons you press to spin the reels tell you how much you are betting for each option...to play all 4 games at once you have to spend $2 or more ($2, $4 or $6) but again, the buttons tell you. There are a couple Alice in Wonderland machines now - there's one that again allows you to play 1-4 games and the buttons tell you exactly what you are betting...cannot remember if the newer one (the Enchanted Mirror/Mad Tea Party ones) have that or not...
And all the machines will have an information screen you can pull up to read about the bonus rounds, what you need to trigger them and what you need to do if you do trigger one...but in general people around you will help if you ask...a few don't like to interact with others but most are helpful enough...if I see someone obviously confused about a machine I'll usually ask if they need help and try to explain to them...it can seem a bit complicated but once you get the hang of them they can be really fun.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Hi
Read some of this thread but being a bit lazy so asking some first time Vegas questions;
Is January Ok to visit - there are some ace deals from Virgin (flight, car hire, 5 nights for £700)
Do you need the car hire - do you need to pay parking once you are there?
Are the flight from Manchester (KLM & Delta) smaller planes , ie, 3 & 3?
Fave hotels on the current deals are Cosmopolitan & Mandalay - any views?
Thanks folks.0 -

Read the first page. On the face of it the deal looks good if you get the Cosmo, but remember that Virgin car hire does not include all insurances so it is often as cheap to hire a car through a broker and there has been flights available recently for less than £400 but they are not direct, then again you mention Delta from manchester? I thought you were talking a Virgin deal0 -

It is a Virgin deal - the flight is with KLM and Delta though. Defo want a direct flight though. Furthest I've been in NYC and prefer to go straight though rather than make the journey even longer. BA have some deals as well - is flying BA better than Virgin - the guide says Virgin uses older planes for the LON-VEGAS route?0
