Anyone here stayed at Palms? Lots of recent negative reviews on tripadvisor but wanted to know if anyone here has first hand experience. Im guessing it takes about 30 mins to walk to strip.

It's about a mile so 15 mins or so.

We never take a change of clothes in our hand luggage - though it's not a bad idea...as for washing bits - you'll be limited to things in containers of 100ml or less - and the hotel will have shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, face soap anyway...so unless you have some special need for particular things, put stuff like that in your checked luggage. On direct flights it's probably less likely that your bags will go astray.

Virgin's website will give you details of what your carry-on allowance is - one item, specific size, 6kg limit...last I checked they seemed to have done away with the 'personal item' like a handbag/laptop in addition to your 6kg carry-on...this annoys me...makes our choice to fly AA that much better with carry-on + personal item that much more justified...actually, looking at it.. you can still take a handbag - but a laptop, no...weird.

    Have you pre-selected your seats?

Thinking of phoning travel agents to see if they can pre-select seats for us, 1 couple booked at different time to us and they really want to know our seats so they can try and book seats by us IUKWIM? Can any one suggest decent seat location?(Virgin) I'll have another look on seat guru shortly. Thanks:)

First time poster, long time lurker.

I have been reading all the posts on this site ready for my 3rd trip to Vegas this September.

My fiancee of 19 years and I have decided to make it official, however we are just looking for a quick and simple civil marriage at the Office of Civil Marriages. Unfortunately its just the 2 of us in Vegas and the office does not supply a witness.

We are planning to do the deed on the 9th September and was wondering if anyone will be in Vegas on that day and could spare us 10 minutes of their time to come along and be a witness?

    Congrats!!!

When we were there, there was a brummie couple who were getting married, and they found a couple of brits in the MGM sportsbook to be witnesses. If you dont get anyone here, put the missus in a bridal veil and carry a sign in your hotel saying "witnesses wanted"......or get chatting to punters at table games and they might oblige. Or go to the Irish pub and ask in there.

I *may* be doing a last minute poker trip flying out Wed or Thur this week, but I would fly home early on the 9th unfortunately.

I would totally do the witness thing if we were going to be there - just a bit too early for us.

    Advanced congrats - 19 years - wow! :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

seatguru is a great resource. For 10, I'm not sure how the seating would work - if TC would put in a request for you guys (at least the original 8) to be sat together, or if you guys will just be picking from what's left when online check-in opens 24-hours before...I would manage your expectations though - don't expet to be sat together, that way you won't be disappointed if you are not...also consider taking your own entertainment if you have a personal media player of any description as it's not unusual for the IFE not to work in some seats...if you have your own noise-cancelling headphones, bring them as they make a huge difference to what you can hear...and don't expect much in terms of alcoholic drinks (if that is your thing) as they will generally cut off drinks service relatively early.

You may already know these things based on comments on this thread before. :)

We are in Vegas on that day, however moving hotels in the morning. We do have a car though, and could be possible. If someone else offers then go with it, but if you've not got anyone are you able to drop me a pm (not sure if new posters can send pm's?).

I'm also moving hotels on the 9th.

I got married in Vegas and didn't have a witness. The Chapel just did it for us though (I think the guy who married us was one and the receptionist). If they won't provide a witness the next couple or their guests would probably be happy to step in for you as it only takes a couple of minutes.

Or you could change location to a Chapel and have an Elvis witness!
