MayDollar rate today is actually $1.58.
There are better pre-paid cards around than Thomas Cook's one with better exchange rates. Go to the top of the page and click on Travel.0 -
OctoberAnyone want a Pampas r.com cert I have from moons ago.....................?

OctoberTry the $20 trick at check in-that usually gets you the upgrade you appear to be hoping for. Without it you may end up with Holly Madison instead.
Can I have the Holly room please:T

January / Februarythanks for your advice - will try the $20 as requested (even it it doesnt get us anywhere we can allway pop to the room next door to see if they are there (surely there cant be more than 2 suites in this hotel!))
Have just read on trip advisor that some one who stayed there found a Gillian McKeith in the room - they quickly phone recieption who apologies and within 15 mins Gillian had been removed and they had a replacement Davro and a 10cent gaming credit for the inconvience

hi
was wondering if any of you guys have used a thomas cook pre paid card?
i was getting some other currency in thomas cook and happened to ask about the dollar rate and the girl recomended the pre paid card.we dont go to end of august but we will be taking a fair amount of dollars as we are getting married and taking our 4 kids so thought this might be a good idea.dollar rate today was 1.54 wish it was 2 dollars to the pound again:(
it's a sensible option and probably an okay deal .
read the main MSE sites advice for travel money
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money
we always used do a mixture to cover all bases . a few hundred $ in cash ( get some small bills if you can ) from a best buy in hard currency , our post office credit card and a best buy for withdrawing ATM cash abroad . that used to be the Nationwide Debit card be people like us taking advantage over the years meant they pulled it .
been a while since i looked on the link above , but that new Sainsburys card with travel insurance for £5 a month looks good value. we usually ended up paying around £40-£50 for a decent annual worldwide travel insurance policy .

what the dollar will do ...who knows . yes we swooped when it hit $2-£1 and quickly secured £1000 from Travelex so we didn't miss out . but it's been hanging around the $1.50 rate for what seems like forever .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Hi we are getting married in April this year and want to book a restaurant that will suit 4 children and 20 adults within the party. Great food but not too formal, a relaxed, great atmosphere is what we are after. Anyone got married at Lakeside in Vegas???0

Magianno's might fit the bill and I think you can get a private room.

Experienced Vegas-goers,
Is a credit card really an essential over there? Most hotels seem to request a credit card as a security measure, fair enough I suppose - they've probably seen more than their fair share of thrashed hotel rooms, but I'm happy to say I don't have a credit card, only a visa debit card. Is that likely to be a big problem? I could get a pre-paid Mastercard (from Moneybookers) if that was seen to be useful but not that interested in getting a CC.
Has anyone else used a debit card to book hotel rooms online, and then cancel these rooms later on when cheaper alternatives become available (as is the advice on this forum). How has this worked out?
I intend to travel alone and would be staying at the cheaper hotels - Strat, Bills, IP, 4Queens, etc.
This is the only thing holding me back at present - the lack of credit card. I'd love to book my dream holiday. Should I just bite the bullet and apply for a CC?
Thanks.0
