Still not booked anything and considering we are going in March, I better get deciding what we are doing. Problem is, I'm trying to cater for everyone's needs, including the inlaws. On that note, has anyone ever done camping at Lake Mead and can offer how they felt about it plus any relevant information?Comping since oct 09' === October wins : Vodkat Cocktail Kit, £50 bonkers!, Peroni Bottle Opener x 2, Brit Chicks Merchandise

March is expensive from the 16th as it's March madness and there's also a huge convention in Vegas afterwards....if these are your dates, maybe the Carriage House where we're staying would be a good bet if there is a few of you and you need some room.
If you're a member of the AA here, there are reciprical agreements/benefits with the AAA (USA) and the Carriage House has a better room rate , show your AA card when you get there.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Hi Triker, thanks for your reply. I'm aware of March Madness and we're travelling towards the end of the month. There is still some flexibility on when we decide to go though. I've been to Vegas twice before and I think we're going to go for a newer strip hotel this time around - just I'm clueless when it comes to lake mead and lodging. We only ever did the Grand Canyon as a day trip...Comping since oct 09' === October wins : Vodkat Cocktail Kit, £50 bonkers!, Peroni Bottle Opener x 2, Brit Chicks Merchandise

OctoberSeeing that food is on everyones mind at the moment. Here are some highlights over the past few years.
A "light" salad at Angel Park golf club just to start you off with
Room service breakfast at The Platinum on the balcony
A KFC "bargin Bucket" $14 for all this!!
The one and only Ellis Island BBQ spare ribs about $8 at the time if I remember and 241 with ACG voucher
Me with a £5 sub from Walmart, and notice the Skinny Cow chocolate milk because I was watching my weight!
Austin Steakhouse Big !!! Steak
Austin Steakhouse roast chicken
IHOP breakfast, buy the breakfast on the left and get the thing at the top for free. Also bannana and blueberry pancakes. All this for about $15 including coffee
Some sort of burger at Gran Lux, chicken I think.
And last, a club sandwich at GL, so hard I cut my gums eating it, not good. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Hmm, I think I've just spotted a key difference in the small print between Low Cost USA and City and Show:
Low Cost USA: Prices are for the total duration of your stay per room including taxes
City and Show:
Prices are for the total duration of your stay, per room including taxes and extra guest charges
Maybe something to bear in mind if you're just looking to book a room on its own.If you get it in writing on your booking confirmation, you will be able to reclaim it from LCUSA if/when the hotel charge it.0 -

Found this, if that's any use....http://www.desertusa.com/colorado/lm_nra/lake_mead/du_meadcamp.html
I'd tend to day trip it there really, it's only about 40 minutes drive from the Strip.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

AugustCan anyone tell me how to book open jaw flights with Virgin. Can only see Return or One Way and flight connections. Would like to find a flight from London - SF then SF-Las Vegas then Las Vegas-London or similar deal from Manchester travelling early Aug like to be in vegas on 9th Aug but flexible with everything else. There doesn't seem to be flights from Scotland that are non-stop.
Getting excited all ready.0 -

Do they mean charges for extra guests, or extra charges for guests?illegitimi non carborundum0
