18 = adult in the US...drinking age is 21...yes, it's a bit odd. You could have the reception in a restaurant that serves cocktails rather than a bar to accomodate them?

I would think that being a Brit of that age in Vegas would be kind of awful - at least those who enjoy going out for a drink...old enough to drink here, not old enough to even get into bars in the US. Probably too old for a lot of the things people who bring their kids do...they certainly would not have to sit in a hotel room every night though - there's loads of stuff to see and do that doesn't involve being in a bar...they just need to prepare in advance for what they can't do so they won't spend the whole time being annoyed. :)

Don't know what age the kids are but be aware there is a curfew on under 18's both in the street and in public locations. Unless accompanied by an adult the curfew in Clarke county generally is 10pm weekdays and midnight weekends. On the Strip and in adjacent streets it is 10pm weekdays and 9pm weekends. The accompanying adult has to be a parent or legal guardian. LVPD issue some 3,000 tickets a year?

I think the OP's brother and sister are 18 & 19 so OK in this respect.
Shame there's no law about people having babies and toddlers out on the strip at 3am...I always fee so bad for those little ones.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

i would second what ferf says...this is going to be really difficult for them and make sure you really prepare them for this. it is going to be very restrictive for them but you are going to have to go out of your way to include them in things- i would look at booking up shows and maybe more things out of city as they will feel not wellcome in most of the casinos

OK, wanting to play the Vegas food video game...we've had a look around and can only find 2...both at Triple George Grill and both desserts (2 different visits, 6 months apart - NOT on the same night, I feel I must add).

Video quality is not great as the restaurant is quite dark...but you will get the idea. :)

Some chocolate thing...I'm sure it was $5.95.

The item on the dessert menu labeled 'cookies'. In this case, peanut butter as I'd assumed we could have a couple cookies of different types and had already fixated on peanut butter when we realised you could only choose one option...we understood why when the waitress returned.

    Thanks Jen,
Now I don't have to clean my monitor, Tracy has just licked it clean watching the video of that chocolate thing. Boy you know a dessert, don't you:T
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Hmm, 50, male, Buble? who's the treat for??? www.visitlasvegas.com is the official tourism website where you can search shows by date, currently for Sept they're showing Manilow, Dion and Donnie&Marie. Similar sites www.vegas.com and www.lasvegas.com.

We have family joining us, most of whom are "US Adults" ie. over 21, but my main worry at the moment is: will there be enough to do for my younger brother and sister who will be 18 and 19 respectively.
I am worried they'll end up left out in the evenings............ :(
really do not want them flying all that way to sit in a hotel room every night!
We were going to have a small cocktail reception in a bar just after the wedding but have realised that they wouldn't be allowed in!

Ideas or suggestion are most welcome!
had same problem when i was in hawaii when i was 16, been going out in england drinking for a year, luckily though i did have a fake driving licence.....

This one seems to be good for one-off concerts...though nothing really showing yet for September - may be too early.

Glad to have helped! And the funny thing is other than buffets, we almost never order dessert...so it's that much more odd that we have evidence of 2 desserts from Triple George.

    hi
was wondering if any of you guys have used a thomas cook pre paid card?
i was getting some other currency in thomas cook and happened to ask about the dollar rate and the girl recomended the pre paid card.we dont go to end of august but we will be taking a fair amount of dollars as we are getting married and taking our 4 kids so thought this might be a good idea.dollar rate today was 1.54 wish it was 2 dollars to the pound again:(

We booked our trip through Thomas Cook last year as it worked out cheaper than doing it all ourselves - I think it is pretty standard that they try and sell you their pre-paid currency card, which is actually a Travelex card.

We did some digging and it's actually better to go direct through Travelex, as the Thomas Cook one charges you to withdraw (on top of what the machine charges you).

We both took Travelexcards with us and they were really good - can just check your balance really easily by calling the number on the back, and they were acceted everywhere we went, just like a normal credit/debit card.

We too are getting married in Vegas (in July) and are using Travelex again

    Hope this helps :)
