Or would people recommend booking separate, just wondered how much more that would cost in general as Virgin flights seem to be £700 on their own

Check both ways and then make a decision - be sure you've looked at the room prices booking direct through deals on smartervegas, goign to the hotel's website directly, etc. in your comparisons...and be sure you are comparing like with like - same flight, same type of room. It used to be that booking separate was almost always cheaper...it's not always the case at the moment as some here have found. Many of us will book separate as we have history with the casinos and can get better rates that way. I think page 1 is mainly concerned with making suggestions that people may not be aware of - expedia and ebookers are sites pretty much everyone who is planning any sort of holiday will be aware of - but they likely won't know about smartervegas, etc.

Is the £750 package you have found with Virgin flights?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • No is was KLM, Dutch I think.
It was for the MGM too.
I'll check direct now, but does anybody know any other sites like expedia and ebookers?

Yes, I suppose I'm thinking more along the lines of a package again possibly, £750 for flights and hotels seems good. Strange that page 1 doesn't mention expedia or ebookers, I was wondering if there are any like those similar.

it doesn't mention Ebookers or Expedia , cause i assume people know of their existence. and also cannot remember to many people finding great prices on them either . this thread is more about pointing people who want to DIY it , in the right direction .

if you want to book a package then your best bet is to get a quote then use this thread

£700 is a lot for a flight but that seems to be the way it is going this year . no way on earth i would pay £100 to fly on that Virgin flying sardine can .

try looking into other airlines .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

OK, but you can't compare a direct flight on Virgin to an indirect flight on KLM in terms of pricing comparisons. :)

And wait - April? Do your dates cover the multiple bank holidays this year? If so, flights may be a lot more expensive than other times.

A lot of those KLM flights are code shares and are actually Delta flights.

I've had some good deals from travelocity -in fact I booked a flight from London using their US site as the price was better that way than any of the US sites including their own. I've also used expedia and ebookers . Seems a bit mean to be moaning at an assumption that every single decent operator should be listed-It seems reasonable to assume people will know to try the well known options and for us to help with things people will have maybe not thought of trying. Also the keeper of the faq does it in his own spare time even though he is busy so it might be nice to thank him rather than nit-pick !

Must admit I don't really get why people keep going back to MGM -it's a nice enough hotel but not exceptional (and too big ;) )

Ok, no need to be so defensive just thought it was odd since they seem to do decent deals and are a lot less hassle/time consuming than booking direct.

Just under £700 I paid last year for decent flights and 10 days in the MGM, going by flight prices it seems I would struggle to get that separately/direct now.

More coupons, click and print, free to all. Always check the expiry date and restrictions, if there are any.

I'm choosing the dining options but have a look round for deiscounts on shows and other money saving coupons.

If you'd actually READ the thread you'd see that airport tax has increased so of course flights are going to be more. If you think a package with expedia is "a decent deal" I suggest you have missed out on lots of better deals but you're hardly encouraging people to help you out with your attitude !

As for been defensive -I don't even know Trets and don't feel any need to defend him. I just find it sad that people who can't be bothered doing their own research are rude to people who do it FOR them !

BTW Are you seriously suggesting the Virgin direct is a "decent" flight ??????????

Yeah that 15 quid hike in airport tax for a standard return flight to Vegas has led to a huge rise in flight prices....... or maybe not.
